SICAS Spring Festival Party

On Feb 1st, 2011, SICAS--Study In China Admission System--the official gateway website for International students to apply for first-rate universities in China, successfully held a party for International students to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival in China.

Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. The festival is celebrated grandily across the country with various cultural activities arranged. Firework shows, dragon dancing and lion dancing are the most common Chinese New Year activities.

International students are purchasing goods in the supermarket.

On the morning of Feb 1st, 2011, SICAS staff and International students went to the supermarket to purchase goods for the party in the evening. International students were in a dilemma, confused about what to buy from a great variety of goods on the shelves. After one and a half hours' tour in the supermarket, the mission of purchasing was completed finally.

International students are learning to make Jiaozi (Chinese dumpling).

In the afternoon, we decorated the room, making it full of festive atmosphere. Then we began to make Jiaozi (Chinese dumpling)--a must during Spring Festival. Though a little difficult to make, International students found pleasure in making it.

At 7:00 pm, the Spring Festival party started! We enjoyed a wonderful meal, exchanged gifts and sent our best wishes with each other.

In the futrue, SICAS will hold more interesting traditional Chinese cultural activities to help International students better understand and appreciate Chinese culture.
