My Internship Story in "Hankou North"

My Internship Story in "Hankou North"

Nov,17 2022

I am Bian Naying, a Korean student majoring in international business at Grade 16 of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. This summer vacation, I worked as an intern for two months in Hankou North Import and Export Service Co., Ltd., a member of Zhuoer Group, one of China's top 500 enterprises. I felt the Chinese corporate culture through this internship and could understand the working process of trading companies through this internship opportunity.

Although I have been studying trade, I don't know how to use the theory I have learned in my work. Through this internship, I learned about the working process of the trading company. The knowledge I learned in class at work helps me understand the way of work.

During my time in the company, my colleagues told me what they hoped I could learn during my stay here. Leaders often take me as the scene of trade. For example, reception of foreign businessmen, market research, customer development, commodity selection, and on-site cooperation meetings. "Seeing is better than hearing". I can learn a lot about trade practice that I can't learn in school.

My main responsibilities in the company are customer reception, Korean translation, development of the Korean market, and so on. When I first arrived at the company, the company was preparing to cooperate with a Korean company. Therefore, I was mainly responsible for helping the Korean company communicate with our company in the past two months. Finally, the two companies signed the MOU agreement. I was very happy when I finished the task. I have confidence in myself gradually during my working time. Every time I finish a task, I feel that I am also a useful person.

During my two months in the company, I also found the differences between Korean and Chinese corporate cultures. Korean enterprises pay more attention to age and responsibility, while China pays more attention to work ability. Because Korean enterprises pay more attention to age and responsibilities, it is not easy for employees with lower responsibilities to speak out when they have opinions. They generally follow the opinions of leaders. However, I think that the relationship between top and bottom of Chinese enterprises is relatively relaxed, and I should say everything I need to say. I was surprised when I first saw this situation in the company. When I was in the company, the leaders were very willing to listen to the opinions of each of us in every meeting. Through this time, I can constantly practice speaking out my ideas. I like Chinese corporate culture very much.

Although my working time in the company is relatively short, I learned a lot of work knowledge in two months. Last week, when I went to class for the first time after the internship, I actually understood what the teacher was going to say. So, if I have a chance, I want to experience Chinese companies again.

Finally, I am very grateful to the teachers and the company of our school for giving me such a good opportunity! I hope that in the future, many international students in school can also experience the Chinese corporate culture and also hope to learn a lot through internship.
