About SMU
South Medical University owns 5 state-level key academic disciplines and another 6 ones approved by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; its clinical medicine as an academic discipline has been ranked as the top 1% of the worldwide universities by ESI.
SMU now has 99 master¡ˉs programs, 10 primary disciplines with 75 doctoral programs authorized to confer doctor¡ˉs degree, and 7 post-doctoral mobile research centers. SMU is ranked at the first place in Guangdong Province and the second among the mainland medical universities in terms of the number of academic disciplines authorized for conferring the doctoral degree.
To date, SMU has built its complete multidisciplinary system with medicine as the hub and science, engineering, law, management, literature and linguistics and pedagogy, the supports.
Dear Chinese Government Scholarship Students:
According to the requirements of the annual review for the Chinese Government Scholarshipand Notice on the Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship for the Academic Year 2021-2022 issued by China Scholarship Council, Chinese Government Scholarship students who continue their study atSouthern Medical Universitybetween Sept2021and July 2022 must participate in 2021/2022 annual review. Students who fail to participatewhile without justifiable reasons will be deprived of scholarship.Related arrangements of the Universityare hereby notifiedas follows:
I. Review Candidates:
1. CSC Scholarship Students who will continue to enjoy Chinese Government Scholarship from Sept, 2021;
2. CSC Scholarship Students who were originally scheduled to graduate in July 2020 but apply for deferred graduation and meet the deferment requirements;
3. CSC scholarship Students who failed in the 2020/2021 academic year scholarship review and are suspended or have part of their scholarship reduced;
4. SeniorCSC scholarship Studentswho enrolled before August 30, 2020 and applied for suspension for the 2020/2021 academic year.
II. Review Steps:
1. Download and print the Form for Annual Review of Chinese Government ScholarshipStatus (Student Self-assessment) (Attachment 1), and fill it out by hand in strict accordance with the instructions:
(1) For Chinese-taught students, please fill the form in Chinese; for English-taught students, please fill in English. All items in the form must be filled in completely with no less than 50 words for each item;
(2) Please scan the completed form into a PDF file and pack it with relevant supporting documents (all the supporting documents must be scanned into 1 PDF file), named byRoll number + Chinese name (if you don’t have Chinese name, fill in your Passport name)
(3) Students currently in China can also directly submit relateddocumentsto Office 205 of the School of International Education within the above-mentionedtimeperiod.
2. The University will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the participating students’ moral conduct, academic performance, study/research performance, and participation in activities in accordance with the Annual Evaluation Measures for Chinese Government Scholarship of Southern Medical Universityfor the Academic Year 2021-2022. The review results will be submitted to China Scholarship Council, and the approval results will be published in a timely manner.
3. Graduate students(Postgraduates&PhD)participating in annual review will be evaluated by their professorsas well based on the Comprehensive Evaluation Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Annual Reviewof Southern Medical University (Applicable to Professional Graduates Students) (Attachment 2) or Comprehensive Evaluation Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Annual Reviewof Southern Medical University (Applicable to Academic Graduates Students) (Attachment 3). The score will be included in the comprehensive evaluationmentioned in article2.
4.Students who fail to submit the Form for Annual Review of Chinese Government ScholarshipStatus (Student Self-assessment) within the specified time will be deprived of the scholarship.
