About ICUC

The Communication University of China (CUC) is one of the China’s key universities of “Project 211”, directly administered by the Ministry of Education.  CUC developed from what used to be a training center for technicians of the Central Broadcasting Bureau that was founded in 1954. In April 1959, CUC was upgraded to the Beijing Broadcasting Institute (BBI) approved by the State Council. In August 2004, BBI was renamed Communication University of China. CUC is located in the eastern part of Beijing near the ancient canal, which occupies 463,700 square meters of land and a total of 499,800 square meters of buildings.

Introduction

In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.

3.Scholarship Coverage and Criteria

I、Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must

1.

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good physical and mental health.

2.

Age, required education level, required language level

（1）Applicants for master's degree should hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent, have excellent academic performance and be under the age of 35.

（2）Applicants for the doctor's degree shall have a master's degree or equivalent, excellent academic performance, and be under the age of 40.

（3）Applicants who apply for master's or doctor's degree programs with Chinese as the professional teaching language should have a minimum score of 180 in HSK 6 (a single subject score of 60 or above).

（4）Applicants for master's and doctor's degrees with English as the professional language of instruction should have a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, a minimum score of 85 in IBT or a minimum score of 750 in TOEIC.

3. Applicants must not choose their native English, French, or other third language or culture as their field of study.

 II、Application materials

Applicants must upload the online form authentically, accurately and completely and also provide the following materials: (all the applying materials must be filled in Chinese or English)

1. Passport first page. If the current passport validity period does not meet the requirements (passport validity period should be later than September 2023), please issue a new passport in time.

2. Notarized certificate of highest academic degree. If the applicant is a current student, he/she should submit proof of expected graduation or study certificate issued by the school he/she attended.

3.Academic transcripts (from undergraduate level). The transcript should include the results of undergraduate, master's (if any), doctoral (if any) studies up to the most recent semester. Transcripts should be issued and sealed by the Dean's Office, Graduate School or the relevant student administration department. Chinese/English transcripts are available. Notarized English translations are required if the transcripts are in languages other than English.

4. Certificate of language proficiency

（1）Applicants who apply to use Chinese as the professional language of teaching should provide a score report of 180 or above on THE HSK 6 within the validity period.

（2）Applicants from non-Native English-speaking countries who wish to use English as the professional language of instruction are required to provide relevant valid Certificates of English proficiency, with a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, 85 in IBT or 750 in TOEIC.

5.Study plan in China. A study plan in Chinese or English (at least 1000 words) should be submitted. The study plan can only be written in Chinese or English.

6.Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad.

7. Portfolios. If you are applying for art, design or other majors, you can upload your portfolios (such as video, painting, etc.) through “works/other supporting materials”. Applicants can also contact us if you want to provide such materials in other ways.

8. Personal Resume

9. Physical Examination Form. The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select an appropriate period of time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

10. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

Submission materials: Applicants must also send the complete application materials (scanned HD version) before the deadline. Late submission will not be accepted.
