Application Guide for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship 2023

一、资助对象  Eligibility

1. 非中国籍人士；

Be a non-Chinese citizen;

2. 对华友好，无违法犯罪记录，遵守中国政府的法律、法规和学校的规章制度；

Be friendly to China, have no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of China and the rules and regulations of the Host Institution;

3. 身心健康，品学兼优；

Be in good physical and mental health, be in good academic and behavioral standing;

4. 有志于从事中文教育、教学及相关工作；

Be interested in Chinese language education and related work;

5. 年龄为16-35 周岁（统一以2023年9月1日计）。在职中文教师放宽至45周岁，本科奖学金申请者一般不超过 25周岁。

Be aged between 16 and 35 years on September 1, 2023. The maximum age limit for in-service Chinese teachers may be extended to 45, but those who apply for a scholarship for a Bachelor’s degree shall be younger than 25 under most circumstances.

二、奖学金类别及申请条件  Categories and Qualifications

1. 国际中文教育专业硕士研究生

Scholarship for Master’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education

2023年 9月入学，资助期限为2年。

The program commences in September 2023, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of two academic years.

具有大学本科学历。汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（五级）210 分、HSKK（中级）60 分。提供毕业后拟任教机构工作协议或相关证明者优先。

Applicants shall hold a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide an employment contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or proof to the same effect.

2. 国际中文教育专业本科生

Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education

2023年9月入学，资助期限为4年。

The program commences in September 2023, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of four academic years.

具有高中学历。汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（四级）210分、HSKK（中级）60 分。

Applicants shall hold a senior high school diploma and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

3.一学年研修生

Scholarship for One-Year Study Program

2023年9月入学，资助期限为11个月（到第二年7月份结束）。不录取享受过同类奖学金的申请者。

The program commences in September 2023, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of eleven months. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.

国际中文教育方向，汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（三级）270分，具有HSKK成绩；汉语言文学、中国历史、中国哲学等方向，汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（四级）180 分、HSKK（中级）60分；汉语研修方向，汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（三级）210 分，提供 HSKK 成绩者优先。

Applicants of international Chinese language education programs shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Applicants of Chinese language study programs shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3), and priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.

4.一学期研修生

Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program

2023年9月、2024年3月入学，资助期限为5个月。不录取护照上有 X1、X2 签证者。

The program commences either in September 2023 or March 2024, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of five months. Applicants holding the X1/X2 visa category are not eligible.

国际中文教育、汉语言文学、中国历史、中国哲学等方向，汉语考试成绩达到 HSK（三级）180 分，具有HSKK成绩；中医、太极文化方向，具有HSK成绩，同时提供HSKK成绩者优先。

Applicants of international Chinese language education, Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of traditional Chinese medicine or Taiji culture programs are required to provide HSK test scores, and priority will be given to those who also provide an HSKK test score.

5. 四周研修生

Scholarship for Four-Week Study Program

2023年7月或12月入学，资助期限为4周。不录取护照上有X1、X2 签证者。

The program commences either in July or December 2023, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of four weeks. Applicants holding the X1/X2 visa category are not eligible.

汉语研修、中医、太极文化、汉语言+中国家庭体验等方向，具有HSK成绩。可由推荐机构组团进行报名，并事先联系接收院校确定在华学习计划，提前报中心审批，每团 10-15 人。

Applicants of Chinese language study, traditional Chinese medicine, Taiji culture, or Chinese language plus homestay with a Chinese family program are required to provide an HSK test score. The program may be organized and applied for by a Recommending Institution with 10-15 participants per group. Before the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with the Host Institution(s) and such plan shall be submitted to CLEC for review and approval.

三、资助内容及标准 Funding Content and Criteria

1. 国际中文教师奖学金资助内容包括：学费、住宿费、生活费和综合医疗保险费。

The scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.

2. 学费、住宿费由接收院校统筹使用，生活费由接收院校按月发放。

The tuition fees and Accommodation fees are under the overall planning and utilization of host institutions, Living allowance is granted by host institutions on a monthly basis.

其中，本科生、一学年和一学期研修生生活费标准为 2500 元人民币/月；国际中文教育专业硕士生为 3000 元人民币/月。

Living allowance standard is as follows:

A.  CNY 2,500 for Bachelor’s Degree Students, One-Academic-Year students and One-Semester students.

B.  CNY 3,000 for Master’s Degree Students.

3. 当月15日（含 15日）前到校注册者， 当月发放全额生活费；15 日以后注册者，当月发放半月生活费。

Students who are enrolled before the 15th (or on the 15th) of the month are entitled to the full allowance of that month while those who enroll after the 15th of that month are entitled to half of the amount.

4. 奖学金生在学期间（不含寒暑假）因个人原因离开中国时间超过 15 天者，停发离华期间生活费。

During the study period, for any student who is absent from China due to personal reasons for more than 15 days (excluding winter and summer holidays), the allowance during absence will be suspended.

5. 奖学金生因个人原因休学、退学或受接收院校纪律处分者，停发自休学、退学或接到处分通知之日起的生活费。

For students who suspend study or drop out of school for personal reasons, or who are given disciplinary punishment by the host institutions, allowance will be terminated on the date of such suspension, dropping out or when the decision of such punishment is announced.

6. 毕（结）业生的生活费发放至学校确定的毕（结）业日期后的半个月。

The living allowance for the month of graduation will be granted half a month after the date of graduation or expiration day of the study confirmed by host institutions.

四、申请资料  (APPLICATION DOCUMENTS)

1.所有申请者有关的证明材料：

For all applicants:

（1）护照照片页扫描件；

A scanned copy of passport photo page;

（2）HSK、HSKK 成绩报告（有效期两年）扫描件；

A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK and HSKK tests (within the two-year validity);

（3）推荐机构负责人的推荐信。

A reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions.

2.与学历生有关的证明材料：

For degree scholarship programme applicants:

（1）提供最高学历证明（毕业预期证明）和在校学习成绩单；

A certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript;

（2）国际中文教育专业硕士须提供两名副教授以上职称导师的推荐信。提供毕业后拟任教机构工作协议者优先资助。

Applicants of the Scholarship for Master of International Chinese Language Education are required to provide 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors. Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

3.在职中文教师须附上就职机构出具的在职证明和推荐信。

Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.

4.申请者还须提供接收院校要求的其他证明材料。

Applicants shall also provide additional documents required by the host institutions.

注：推荐机构为孔子学院、独立设置的孔子课堂，部分汉语考试考点，外国相关教育机构、高校中文教师专业/中文院系、国外有关中文教学行业组织、中国驻外领（使）馆等。

Recommending Institution: Confucius Institutes, independent  Confucius classrooms, selected HSK test centers, foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher training programs/Chinese departments at foreign universities, professional associations for  Chinese language teaching, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad.

五、申请流程 (APPLICATION PROCEDURES)

1.2023 年 3 月 1 日 起 ， 申 请 者 可 登 录 中外语言交流合作中心网站（http://www.chinese.cn）国际中文教师奖学金板块，查询选择推荐机构与接收院校；

Online registration will be available from March 1, 2023 on the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (http://www.chinese.cn).  log on International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application section to search for recommending institutions and host institutions.

2.在线提交申请材料，关注申请进程、审核意见与奖学金评审结果；

Applicants submit application materials online and follow the application process, review comments and scholarship evaluation results.

3.奖学金获得者与接收院校确认办理来华留学手续,在线打印获奖证书；

Scholarship recipients must confirm with the host institutions to go through the procedures for studying in China and print out the scholarship award certificate online.

4.按接收院校录取通知书规定的时间入学报到。

Scholarship recipients should register at the host institution on the designated date as per the  Letter of Admission.

六、截止日期（以北京时间为准）

Application Deadlines (Beijing Time)

1．7月入学：学生申请截止日期为4月12日，推荐机构、接收院校审核截止日期为4月22日；

For programs commencing in July, applicants must complete their applications by April 12, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by April 22.

2．9月入学：学生申请截止日期为5月12日，推荐机构、接收院校审核截止日期为5月22日；

For programs commencing in September, applicants must complete their applications by May 12, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by May 22.

3．12月入学：学生申请截止日期为9月12日，推荐机构、接收院校审核截止日期为9月22日；

For programs commencing in December, applicants must complete their applications by September 12, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by September 22.

4．2024年3月入学：学生申请截止日期为11月12日，推荐机构、接收院校审核截止日期为11月22日。

For programs commencing in March 2024, applicants must complete their applications by November 12, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by November 22.

七、关于在职中文教师和汉语桥获奖者

Policies Regarding Currently Employed  Chinese Language Teachers and Chinese Bridge Award Recipients

1.在职中文教师

Currently employed Chinese language teachers:

在职中文教师申请各类奖学金，可提供就职机构出具的在职证明和推荐信，免提交汉语水平考试（HSK）证书。

Currently employed Chinese language teachers applying for the scholarships can be exempted from submitting Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) certificates if they can provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the institution where they work.

2.汉语桥获奖者

Chinese Bridge Award Recipients:

在各类汉语桥比赛中获得“国际中文教师奖学金证书”者,登录国际中文教师奖学金网站，凭奖学金证书向目标接收院校提交申请材料。

Applicants who have won the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in various Chinese Bridge competitions should submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to relevant host institutions on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.
