About BIT

In 1940, the Communist Party of China founded the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), the country's first science and engineering university, in Yan'an, Shaanxi province. Since the founding of the New China, BIT has been one of the key universities in the country and was among the first to enter the national "211 Project" and the "985 Project", and to be designated as a "Top A World-class University". 

BIT was originally founded in Yan'an in 1940, and moved to Beijing in 1949. In 1952, it was renamed Beijing Engineering College, becoming the first defense industry university in the People's Republic of China. In 1988, the university was renamed the Beijing Institute of Technology. Today, it is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Chinese Government Scholarship The "High-level Graduate Student" program is a full scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education to some high-level Chinese universities to directly select and recruit outstanding young foreign students to study in China. Beijing Institute of Technology is one of the host institutions, responsible for recruiting high-level international students with excellent academic background, professional ability and future development potential to study for master's and doctoral degrees.

02 Eligibility for application

1. Non-chinese citizens who are in good health, willing to abide by relevant Chinese laws and regulations and school rules and regulations, and hold a valid foreign passport;

2. Applicants for a master's degree should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent, excellent academic performance, and generally under the age of 35;

3. Applicants for a doctoral degree should have a master's degree or equivalent, have excellent academic records, and be under the age of 40;

4. Applicants for professional courses taught in Chinese must have HSK5 level (including) or above Chinese proficiency certificate; To apply for English-taught programs, TOEFL score must be ≥85 or IELTS comprehensive score ≥6.0 (except native English speakers); Or provide an equivalent language proficiency certificate recognized by our university;

5. Applicants for the MBA program must have at least 1 year (inclusive) of relevant work or internship experience.

03 Scholarship content

1. Free tuition;

2. Provide free dormitories or provide accommodation subsidies;

3. Living Expenses:

Postgraduate: 3,000 RMB/month,

Doctoral candidates: 3,500 RMB/month;

4. Comprehensive medical insurance premium: 800 RMB/person/year

05 Application process

1. Applicants log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Management Information System for Studying in China,

Complete the application (Beijing Institute of Technology code 10007, project type: B).

2. Applicants log in to the online service system of Beijing Institute of Technology for International Students to complete the application.

3. The University will recommend scholarship candidates to the China Scholarship Council based on the comprehensive review results.

4. After the scholarship candidate is selected by the National Scholarship Council, the university will inform the applicant of the result and send the admission document.

3. Notarized certificate of highest education/study (Chinese or English)

4. Notarized transcript (undergraduate and above, Chinese or English)

5. Resume

6. Personal statement and research plan (1000 words or more)

7. Two letters of recommendation (from professor or associate professor)

8. Beijing Institute of Technology graduate student tutor recommendation form

9. Medical examination Form for foreigners

10. Proof of language proficiency

11. No proof of criminal record

12. Other supporting materials (such as papers, patents, certificates)
