About DPU
Dalian Polytechnic University was founded in 1958, is one of the first four light industry colleges in China, originally under the Ministry of Light Industry, in 1998 transformed into the central and local co-construction, Liaoning Province management system. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Dalian Polytechnic University from Dalian Institute of Light Industry. Over the past half century, the school has gradually developed into an institution of higher learning with engineering, engineering, science, art, literature, management, and economics as the main focus, coordinated development of six disciplines, and the cultivation of professionals in food, light industry, textile, art, etc.
Scholarship programs
1. Chinese University Programs:
l Chinese Government Scholarship – Degree Study in Border Provinces Program
l Chinese Government Scholarship – Degree Study in Local Governments Program
These two scholarship programs only support full-time graduate students. They don’t support students of joint education.
2. Chinese Government Scholarship – Silk Road Program
l Silk Road Program (Close)
It only supports doctoral students of Food Science and Engineering.
l Silk Road Program (Open)
It supports full-time master’s students and doctoral students.
Scholarship coverage
The programs provide full scholarship which covers tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance.
Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health.
2. Students who are now studying in China or already winners of Chinese Government Scholarship are not allowed to apply. Students who graduated from any Chinese university or college need at least one year of departure to apply.
3. Candidates must be a Master Degree holder when applying for the doctoral programs. Candidates must be a Bachelor Degree holder when applying for the master programs.
4. For applicants of English-taught programs, there are no Chinese language requirements. For applicants of Chinese-taught programs, good Chinese language proficiency, able to follow Chinese-taught courses well, is required. Applicants without any Chinese language study experience must take one year Language Preparation Class.
5. Applicants must apply for programs related to previous major study in order to be able to follow major courses well.
Time of application
Applicants shall complete the online application procedure at China Scholarship Council (CSC) Online Application System and submit all required documents to Dalian Polytechnic University (DPU) prior to March 31st. The specific application time is subject to adjustment according to the announcement of CSC. Please refer to the announcement on the website.
Application procedure
1. Complete the online application procedure at Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) Information System , submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy.

2. Submit all of your application documents (in duplicate) to International Office, Dalian Polytechnic University. Be aware, the signature should be signed on Application Form.
3. DPU examines and verifies submitted application documents. If any revision is needed, DPU will contact applicants, so please fill in the correct contact number and E-mail address which can reach you.
Application documents (in duplicate)
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship （written in Chinese or English）
2. Notarized highest diploma （photocopy）
Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
3. Academic trans cripts （written in Chinese or English）;
Trans cripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal （written in Chinese or English）
5. Two Recommendation Letters （written in Chinese or English）signed by a professor or an associate professor
6. Foreigner Physical Examination Form （photocopy）,（written in English, can be downloaded from CSC website）. The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.
Admission
1. DPU examines and verifies application documents.
2. Application documents (in duplicate) including Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, Notarized highest diploma, and Foreigner Physical Examination Form of recommended applicants are sent to CSC to be considered for eligibility and qualification prior to April 10th. Meanwhile, DPU documents including List of Scholarship Recipients, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China （JW201）are sent to CSC.
3. CSC reviews and approves the list of Scholarship recipients and Visa Application Form for Study in China （JW201）.
4. CSC sends approved List of Scholarship Recipients, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China （JW201）to DPU prior to July 31st. Then DPU notifies scholarship recipients.
5. Scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline. Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study unless they give up the grant.
