About WMU
Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a higher institution under the administration of Zhejiang Provincial Government. It can trace its origin back to the former Zhejiang Specialized Medical School established in 1912. In August 1958, the Second Zhejiang Medical College was established in Wenzhou as a branch of Zhejiang Medical College, whose name was later changed to Wenzhou Medical College in accordance with its location. In 2013 Wenzhou Medical College was officially renamed Wenzhou Medical University. In 2015, WMU was shortlisted as one of the co-development universities by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission and Zhejiang Provincial Government. In 2017, it became a Priority Development University in Zhejiang Province.
Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program is established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE), aiming to develop outstanding international talent and improve the perception of China’s higher education. Under the mandate of the MOE, Wenzhou Medical University is opening application for full-time postgraduate studies under the Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program.
1. Enrollment Categories and Scholarship Duration
Type of enrollment: Master's degree and doctoral degree
1)Number of scholarships: to be determined
2)Scholarship recipients can be taught in Chinese or in English in their majors in China. Scholarship recipients whose Chinese language proficiency does not meet the requirements for admission to their majors are required to take a one-year remedial Chinese language course after coming to China and pass the examination before they can be admitted to their majors.
3)The duration of the scholarship is the number of years of study determined at the time of admission, and will not be extended in principle after the student's arrival in China.
4)Scholarships may not be used across years.
2. Scholarship contents and criteria
· Tuition Fee: The tuition fee is used by the school for the training and management of the scholarship students, as well as for organizing or supporting the scholarship students to carry out cultural and sports activities, visits and reunions;
· Accommodation fees: the school provides free dormitories or grants an allowance for accommodation fees. Students who are required to stay on-campus according to school regulations are provided with free dormitories by the school, which are in principle two individuals rooms; if students choose to stay off-campus with the approval of the school, the school will grant them accommodation fees on a monthly or quarterly basis. The standard is:
Master's degree students: 700 RMB/month
Doctoral degree students: 1000 RMB/month
· The living cost standard is:
Master's degree students: 3,000 RMB/month
Doctoral degree students: 3,500 RMB/month
The living expenses are paid by the university on a monthly basis. Scholarship students who register at the university before the fifteenth day of the month (including the fifteenth day) are paid the full month's living expenses; those who register after the fifteenth day are paid half a month's living expenses; graduates are paid the living expenses until half a month after the date of graduation as determined by the university; if a scholarship student is away from China for a period of more than 15 days during the period of study (excluding normal holidays), his/her living expenses during the period of absence from China will not be paid.
· Comprehensive medical insurance (please refer to "Introduction to Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students and Claims Guidelines" for insurance contents and claims procedures).
3. Application Procedure
1)Log in to the Scholarship Council's Online Application System for Study in China to register and upload your application materials. (Code of Wenzhou Medical University is 10343, program type: B)
2)Log in to the International Student Service Platform of Wenzhou Medical University to register and upload application materials.
