About SUFE
Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) began as a business program at the Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1917. Yang Xingfo, a well-known social activist and patriotic democrat, was appointed as program director. In 1921, as part of the plan to establish the National Southeast University based on Nanjing Higher Normal School, the business program was restructured and transferred to Shanghai, where it established Shanghai University of Commerce under National Southeast University. This university was the first commercial university in China's history of education. Guo Bingwen, a renowned educator, acted as president, and Ma Yinchu, a well-known economist, was the provost.
In 1932, the university split and became known as the National Shanghai College of Commerce, the only national undergraduate business school in China at the time. In 1950, the university was renamed as the Shanghai College of Finance and Economics, and in 1985, it was renamed as Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 2000, the university became subordinate to the Ministry of Education and it is now jointly developed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

Apply Process
There is a two-stage application process which involves applying for entry to the graduate program at SUFE, then applying separately to the CSC for the scholarship after being informed about the University admission decision outcomes.
Stage 1: Apply for a graduate program at SUFE (December 1, 2023-February 29, 2024)
Visit the Study at SUFE website for the list of graduate programs and for information, confirm the specific entry requirements, application process and required documentation for your application. Remit the application fee (CNY830/1660) and submit the program application through SUFE Applicant Portal.
Stage 2: Apply to the CSC for the scholarship (middle March 2024)
SUFE Admission Office reviews your application submitted through SUFE Applicant Portal. If shortlisted, you are required to take the evaluative interview (online interview) conducted by SUFE. If you receive an offer of a place from SUFE, you will need to apply separately to the CSC for the scholarship and follow the CSC application process. CSC applications must be submitted online on the CSC website .
Selection Process
It is important to note that during the selection process:
The eligibility criteria will be applied automatically, using the details you provide in the relevant sections of the application form (for example, your country of ordinary residence and your previous education institutions).
CSC reviews and evaluates scholarship candidates' application and decides the name list of scholarship winners.
The scholarship is awarded based on merits (academics, test scores, extracurricular activities, community service, etc.), not on your need for financial aid.
Scholarship Outcomes
The name list of scholarship winners comes out in late June or in July. SUFE will inform you via email if your name is in the list and send you the admission package (Admission Notice, Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW201 Form) , etc.) .
* The time line of the selection process is subject to change according to CSC's workflow.
* The CSC reserves the rights to decide the host university for scholarship winners. Each scholarship winner, including those with admission offers from different universities, will be granted no more than one scholarship.
* Scholarship winners shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study stipulated on the Admission Notice.
* SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission and the scholarship will be cancel as well if:
you fail to register for 2024 fall intake on the registration day (see on the Admission Notice).
falsehood is found in the documents/certificates used for application.
unable to present the official graduating certificate and degree certificate during the matriculation at SUFE in September 2024 (for applicants who are in the final year at the time of application)
