About SMU
Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) is a multi-disciplinary university that encompasses such areas as engineering, management, economics, law, liberal arts, and science, with special emphasis on shipping, logistics and ocean. Chinese maritime education originated at Shanghai and grew out of the Shipping Section of Shanghai Industrial College founded in 1909 (towards the end of the Qing Dynasty). SMU was established by the Ministry of Communications in 1959. According to the university layout adjustment in Shanghai, and for better service of construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, Lingang new campus inaugurated in 2008. On October 20 2019, SMU celebrated its 110th anniversary.
Chinese Government Scholarship is a full scholarship established by Ministry of Education of Chinato support Chinese universities to recruit outstanding international students forgraduate studies in China.
Application process:
Step1: Apply on the Chinese Government Scholarship website and SMU application website before February 1st, 2024;
Step 2: Shanghai Maritime University shall process the materials review, interview and scholarship evaluation before March 10th, 2024 to confirm the list of candidates for this program, and issue the pre-admission notice;
Step3: Candidates should complete the applicationby submitting the pre-admission letter before March 15,2024;
Step 4: According to the principle of individual application -institution recommendation-expertreview-selective admission, China Scholarship Council will organize experts to conduct final evaluationon the academic performance, comprehensive quality, developmentpotential and other aspectsof the candidates, and select the best candidates for final admission.
● The scholarship committee will perform a comprehensive annual review of scholarship recipients' academic records, learning attitude, performance, awards or punishment received. Students who fail to meet the requirements will have their scholarship status suspended or canceled.
