About ECNU
East China Normal University (ECNU) is located in Shanghai---a renowned international metropolis with architectural landmarks that capture the eye with new aesthetic designs. Founded in Shanghai in October 1951, ECNU is one of the prestigious universities in China. In 2017, ECNU was selected as one of the Category A universities in China’s Double First-Class University Program, a higher education initiative launched by the Ministry of Education aiming to develop elite Chinese universities into world class institutions by the end of 2050.

Eligibility
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens.
Applicants who study for a master degree should be under 35 years old and have a bachelor's degree.
Applicants who study for a doctoral degree should be under 40 years old and have a master's degree.
Scholarship Coverage
a. Full scholarship
Exempt from tuition fee; provide accommodation on campus.
Living allowance: (Ph.D. 3500 RMB/month, Master 3000RMB/month).
Provide comprehensive medical care insurance for International Students.
b. Partial scholarship
Subject to the CSC admission decision.
Application Procedures
Step 1 Apply On-line
Click“Online Application” on ECNU website
Submit your application and documents that are required.
Application fee should be paid online as well.

Step 2 Send hard copies to GEC
Submit your application documents in full set to the International Students Office before March 31st, 2021.
The applicants provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely. Provide one set of original hardcopy.
1). Application form（Please fill in the form at http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn and Chinese Government Scholarship Website）
2). For Master’s Program: Certificate of Bachelor's Degree and Diploma (scan copy).
For Ph.D. Program: Master'sand Bachelor's Degree Certificates and Diploma (scan copy).
* Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation with the estimated graduation time on it from their current academic institution. In this case, the degree certificate must be submitted before August 31, 2021.
3). For Master’s Program: Official Academic Transcript of undergraduate studies or above (original).
For Ph.D. Program: Official Academic Transcript of both graduate and undergraduate studies (original).
* The original copy of 2 & 3 must be in Chinese or English with official stamps. If it’s not, please also enclose a notarized and translated version in Chinese or in English.
4). Language proficiency certificate
For Chinese-taught programs: HSK-5≥ 210 or HSK-6≥180 . (Applicants for Chinese-taught majors but without qualified Chinese Language skill is required to take the remedial Chinese language course for 1-2 year before academic study.)
For English-taught program: TOEFL≥80; IELTS≥6.0; Cambridge English B2 or or official proof of taking English-taught programs.
5). A study or research plan
For Master’s Program: no less than 800 words
For Ph.D. Program: no less than 1500 words
Language: Written in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs or English for English-taught programs.
Content: Include but not limited to personal study or work experience, academic research outcome, research plan of master program, personal goal after graduation.
6). Two Recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors. (For Ph.D. program applicants, please use the template from our website.)
* The issue date of the recommendation letter should be later than September 1st, 2020. In the recommendation letter, the following information MUST be included: title of the recommender, place ofwork, contact phone number and email address.
7). For Master’s Program: ABSTRACT of Undergraduate thesis (If you have, please submit.)
For Ph.D. Program: Your theses published,patents, or your other research achievements during your graduate study; theabstract of your Master degree thesis instead of the full text.
8). Applicants for art related majors should submit your portfolio
9). Photocopyof health certificate and blood test. Bring your original documents when entering China.
* The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.
10) Photocopyof Passport (Including personal information page and Chinese visa pages if youhave been in China.
11) Award Certificates.

13) Application fee: 800RMB (Paid online)
Note
1. All the above documents should be sent in One set of original documents to the Global Education Center of East China Normal University before the application deadline. Application documents sent by fax or email will not be accepted.
2. Incomplete application documents will not be accepted, and application documents should be submitted at ONE time.
3. The applications documents and application fee will not be returned no matter you are accepted or not.
4. If you have received a bachelor degree from an English taught program in an English speaking country, please provide the official proof issued by the school which states that the program you have studied in is taught in English. If English is your first language, no need to hand in English Certificate.
Step 3 Track Application Status Online
Pay attention to your email box or login in your ECNU online application account to check your application status.
Make sure your email address is correct and check your email box occasionally, otherwise you might miss some IMPORTANT INFORMATION, eg. the arrangement of interview etc.
Step 4 Admission and University Enrollment
The result of your application will be announced both in ECNU online application system and on the bulletin of Global Education Center website.
Admitted students must bring the original graduation certificate and diploma to register on the dates listed on the admission letter. Your enrollment will be canceled without providing the relevant certificates.
Admission Process
University Reviews the application documents and decides the nominated candidates.
The CSC reviews eligibility and qualifications of nominated candidates and approves the List of Scholarship Recipients.
Admission result will be put on the Notice Board .
Note:
Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study after their registration.
