About BISTU
Formally approved by Ministry of Education, Beijing Information Science and Technology University (BISTU) was the merger of Beijing Institute of Machinery (BIM, supervised by the former Ministry of Machinery Industry) and Beijing Institute of Information Technology (BIT, supervised by the former Ministry of Electronic Industry). BISTU is a key school supported by Beijing Municipality with a relatively complete set of academic disciplines focusing on engineering coordinated development of engineering, management, science, economics, liberal arts, and law studies. With a history of 85 years dated back to 1937, BISTU has been always rooted in China and has been growing along with development of the country, development of national machinery industry and computer science. Distinctive features of the University thus were formed in respect of information technology industries. “Diligence in learning and honor for life”---the University Motto ---has been rooted here and carried forward to all corners of the world. The University has five campuses. And the New Campus covering an area of over 80 hectares is in an all-around progress of construction and Phase One project is expected to be completed soon. Phase One relocation on the New Campus has been achieved in 2021.

BISTU is a full-time public key school supported by Beijing Municipality, and it is one of the doctoral degree granting universities and the first batch of master degree granting ones, with the engineering discipline ranking among top 1% of ESI disciplines worldwide.Graduates' salary index ranks among the top 40 universities in China.BISTU has a student body of over 10,000 full-time undergraduates, more than 2700 postgraduates and over 100 International students. The reasonably structured, quality faculty team of BISTU is composed of over 1,000 full-time academic teachers, of whom more than 70% are doctoral degree holders. BISTU continues to boost globalization of education. Between BISTU and over 100 institutions around the world, inter-school cooperative relationship has been established which covers joint educational models from undergraduate level to master and doctoral level. The college of International Education (CIE) is responsible for enrollment, education and services of International students. It offers International students with bachelor, master degree programs and various long-term&short-term non-degree programs.The university provides Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship and BISTU Scholarship to attract students to study from all over the world. With constantly improved education, BISTU has witnessed a growing number of overseas students over the years and alumni across the world.
Introduction
A 4-year period is generally stipulated in a bachelor's degree program with a flexible education duration of 3-6 years.Students are required to complete the curriculum, fulfill the designated number of credits and pass a thesis defense. According to regulations of the Degree Committee, students who satisfy the aforementioned conditions will receive a graduation certificate along with a bachelor's degree.There are 35 majors open to International students. Application Processing
Deadline for scholarship application is June 30th ,2024.We may inform you to attend an interview or request additional materials according to your application process. If you are accepted, we will send you a Letter of Admission and other relevant documents.
Visa
Successful applicants should bring their Letter of Admission and their JW202 form to the Chinese consulate or embassy to apply for their Student Visa. A study period of 6 months and above
requires an X1 visa. Accepted applicants need to exchange their X1 visas to a Residence Permit within 30 days of arrival in China. If your period of study is less than half a year, you are required to apply for an X2 visa.
Medical Insurance
All International students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Medical Insurance & Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China, which has been recognized and recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Accommodation Information
International Students’ Dormitory is provided in BISTU with double room, hotel-style management and receptionist 24 hours on duty. Students can also find their own living accommodation.
Please note that students who live off campus must register at the local police station.
1. In principle, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 (calculated from 1 September 2006), physically and mentally fit, have graduated from high school or above, be of good character, meet the relevant provisions of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport, be friendly to China and have no criminal record.Applicants under 18 should provide certificate of guardian who has Beijing residency. According to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China and the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, if both or either of the parents are Chinese citizens and settled in a foreign country, and the applicant has foreign nationality at birth, he/she does not have Chinese nationality. To be considered as an International applicant, the student must hold a valid foreign passport or documentary proof of nationality issued before April 30, 2020, and have a record of actual residence in a foreign country for at least two years during the period from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2024 (actual residence in a foreign country for nine months within a year can be counted as one year, based on the entry and exit stamps in the student's passport). According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, previous residents of China's mainland, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region or Taiwan, who wish to apply to BISTU as International students after emigrating and acquiring foreign nationality, must have acquired a valid foreign passport or documentary proof of nationality before 30 April 2020, have a certificate of having canceled their Chinese nationality, and have at least two years of actual residence in a foreign country during the period from 30 April 2020 to 30 April 2024 (actual residence
in a foreign country for nine months within a year can be counted as one year, based on entry and exit stamps). The following prerequisites apply to students entering the university in September 2024

Note: Applicants expected to graduate in 2024 should provide an official letter from their current high school stating their expected graduation date and submit a high school
graduation certificate upon admission. Official high school transcripts of the applicant. These must be original documents or notarized copies either in Chinese or English. Valid report of Chinese language test scores(original or photocopy): HSK 4, score of above 180. Applicants not having this certificate can first apply for the Long-term Chinese language program, and will directly be upgraded into bachelor degree program after passing HSK 4 with one year’s Chinese language study.
