Guangzhou Medical University was founded in 1958. It is a "Double First-Class" university under national construction, one of the first batch of pilot universities for the "Outstanding Doctor Education and Training Program" in China, and a key university for the construction of high-level universities in Guangdong Province. There are currently two campuses (Panyu Campus and Yuexiu Campus), covering an area of 597,500 square meters and having a building area of 652,200 square meters.


The school fully implements the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, and strives to build a high-quality talent cultivation system. There are currently over 15,000 full-time students on campus, including more than 5,000 postgraduates and approximately 10,000 undergraduates. It has 4 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 1 professional doctoral degree authorization point, 9 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 9 professional master's degree authorization points. There are postdoctoral research stations in clinical medicine and biology. There are 24 colleges (teaching units), offering 21 undergraduate programs covering five disciplines: medicine, science, management, engineering and law. Among them, 17 are national first-class undergraduate program construction points and 4 are provincial first-class undergraduate program construction points. The proportion of national first-class programs (80.95%) ranks among the top in Chinese universities. It has established 4 national-level educational and teaching platforms, including the first batch of national modern industry colleges, 47 provincial-level educational and teaching platforms, and 2 provincial-level innovative experimental zones for cultivating top-notch talents in basic disciplines. It has one national-level teaching team, two Huang Danyan-style teacher teams from national universities, and 35 provincial-level teaching teams (including course teaching and research sections, etc.). It has 17 national first-class undergraduate courses and 96 provincial first-class undergraduate courses. The school's enrollment, training and employment work has been widely praised by all sectors of society. The pass rate of the medical professional qualification examination for its graduates ranks among the top in national universities. Among them, the pass rate of the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine practicing physician has ranked first in the country for three consecutive years, and the pass rate of the public health practicing physician has entered the top five in the country for two consecutive years.

Discipline Overview

Epidemiology and health statistics are core disciplines in the field of public health, integrating epidemiology (studying the distribution, causes and prevention and control strategies of diseases in the population) and health statistics (using statistical methods to analyze health data and solve public health problems). Its core objective is to reveal the epidemic patterns of diseases through scientific research design, data collection and analysis, and provide a basis for disease prevention, health management and the formulation of health policies. This discipline is the foundation of public health and preventive medicine, and also an important interdisciplinary field for clinical medicine, pharmacy and other specialties.


About Guangzhou Medical University

The school continuously strengthens organized scientific research to serve high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology. There are currently 32 research institutions, including 1 national key laboratory, 1 national "Belt and Road" joint laboratory, 1 national clinical medical research center, and 38 provincial (ministerial) key scientific research platforms. Since the launch of the construction of high-level universities in 2015, more than 5,100 vertical scientific research projects at various levels, including the National Key Research and Development Program, have been undertaken. The number of projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation has consistently ranked among the top four independent medical colleges and universities in China. More than 22,000 SCI papers have been published, among which 30 papers have been published in the main journals of Nature, Science and Cell. It has won 5 national-level science and technology awards, including the Innovation Team Award of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and over 50 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. Two scientific and technological achievements were selected as the top ten scientific and technological advancements in Chinese universities, and one scientific and technological achievement was selected as one of the top ten domestic scientific and technological news. The school adheres to the coordinated development of industry, academia and research, and has been approved as A national university science park cultivation unit. The operation of the university science park has been rated as the highest level A in Guangdong Province. The Guangzhou Kingmed Diagnostics Group, cultivated by the school, has grown into the leading company in the domestic third-party medical testing industry.

ENROLL IN CHINA

Entry Requirements

1. Applicants for a master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree in medicine or a medical-related field and be no older than 35 years old. Applicants for a doctoral degree should hold a master's degree in medicine or a medical-related field and be no older than 40 years old.

2. Non-chinese citizens holding ordinary foreign passports;

3. Be in good physical and mental health and meet the physical examination standards for applying for a study visa or residence permit to China.

4. Language Requirements: The applicant's HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) score should reach level 4 or above.



Application Materials

1. A scanned copy of the information page of a valid passport;

2. The highest academic degree certificate and diploma, as well as the transcript (for those who have not yet obtained the graduation certificate or diploma, a certificate of graduation from the school is required and a copy of the graduation certificate should be provided at the time of registration).

3. University transcripts and HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) transcripts;

4. Two recommendation letters from associate professors or above;

5. Study Plan in China. The word count requirement for applying to a master's program is over 1,000 words, and for a doctoral program, it is over 1,500 words. Applicants can write in either Chinese or English. The content includes personal study and work experience, academic research achievements, research plans and personal development goals after graduation, etc.

6. A list of published papers, abstracts, or other materials that can prove one's research capabilities;

7. Id photo (2-inch blue-background, bareheaded photo);

8. Self-introduction video in English or Chinese (3-5 minutes, no more than 50M);

9. Scanned copy of the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners"

10. Applicants with work experience are requested to provide notarized work certificates. Other materials that can prove professional or personal background.

11. Scanned copies of the "Economic Guarantee Letter" and its guarantee materials must be filled out in either Chinese or English.
