BA in Finance

China Agricultural University (CAU) has three campuses, two located in Beijing and one in Yantai City, Shandong province. CAU is ranked as 33rd out of more than 2,000 universities and colleges in China in 2010 . There are 20,000 full time students in CAU, including 6,000 postgraduate students and 14,000 undergraduate students.

There are totally 67 undergraduate courses, 136 master courses and 71 doctoral courses in CAU. Subjects offered by CAU are agriculture, biological sciences, resources and environmental sciences, animal science and technology, veterinary medicine, food science and nutritional engineering, agricultural engineering and automation science, information and electrical engineering, water conservancy and civil engineering, economics and management, and humanities and development.

The BA program in finance is designed to provide students with the financial knowledge and skills required for successful business careers. It attempts to give students a thorough understanding of theoretical financial principles and the practical implementation of these principles in the world of business. Students learn how financial markets operate and how to make effective investment and financial decisions for firms and individuals.

Finance knowledge and practice have become crucial for the success of corporations and their employees. This program not only teaches finance and accounting techniques with the aim of immediate application but also enables students to critically evaluate their usefulness in global contexts.

The program includes General Education, Finance Concentration and Electives.

The General Education is to develop students’ knowledge and skills in areas of Academic Writing, Foreign Language, Epistemology and Cognition, Ethical Thought and Moral Values, Historical Analysis, Literature and the Arts, Quantitative Reasoning, Science and Technology, Social Analysis, etc.

The Finance Concentration mainly includes: Introduction to Finance Quantitative Methods for Accounting and Finance Financial Accounting Accounting Information Systems Financial Regulations and Corporate Governance Managing Personal Finance Economics for International Finance Investment Management

In Elective Courses students are allowed to choose additional courses in finance or related areas. Courses offered include Chinese Financial System Reform and a variety of economics courses. Students are also given opportunities to select courses from other department that not related to finance.

The BA program is a full-time 3 to 4-year program. Students in this program can apply to transfer to US or UK partner universities from their third year if entry requirementsare met. Not all general education courses are compulsory for students who may transfer to UK partner universities.

As one of only a few centennial national universities, China Nongye University, also known as China Agricultural University, was established during the Qing Dynasty as the Agriculture College of Jingshi Grand University (currently Peking University). It later merged with the Agriculture College of Tsinghua University and established a new campus as an independent university. Over the previous century the university has founded comprehensive disciplines in a broad variety of academic fields, which mainly include agriculture, engineering and technology, liberal arts and sciences, business, law and medicine.

It includes agricultural science, plant science, animal science, and environmental and ecological sciences. According to the Ministry of Education China, CAU has six subjects ranked as No.1 in China, which are crop science, plant protection, utilization of agricultural resources, animal science, veterinary medicine and agricultural engineering. 

There are 4 Key State Laboratories located on CAU campus, including the State Laboratory of Agro technology, the State Laboratory of Plant Physiology & Biochemistry, the State Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and the State Laboratory of Poultry Breeding. There are 6 State Research Centres and 1 National Field Research Centre located on CAU campus. There are also 24 Ministerial Key laboratories, 3 Municipal Key laboratories and 4 Ministerial Field Research Centres located on CAU campus.

In 2008, as one of four universities among more than 50 universities in Beijing, CAU was supported by the Beijing Olympics Committee to build an Olympics Gymnasium on campus. The wrestling games of 2008 Olympics have been successfully held in CAU.

Apartments on Campus

Double rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen, 1000 RMB/person/month (on basis of whole-year contract), 1150 RMB/person/month (on basis of half-year contract).  

International Students' Apartments off Campus

On basis of half-year contract, double rooms,90 RMB/room/day; double rooms with sitting room, 120 RMB/room/day.

Rented Apartments

Around 3500 RMB/month (on basis of whole-year contract) for a typical furnished apartment with one bedroom, one sitting room, one kitchen and one bathroom.   

Reservations should be made by end of June for Autumn intake or by end of December for Spring intake.

A deposit should be paid with reservations. 

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

Prospective students must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

1.Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number&expiration date and name included.

2.Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3.Graduation certificate of high school
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English. If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.
