Located in the city of Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Medical University (GMU), founded in 21st November 1934, is one of the 22 oldest medical institutes in China, one of the 8 medical institutes that first to enroll international students, and one of the 30 universities that are qualified to launch MBBS courses with English medium. It is a key university supported by Guangxi Government, as well as a center for medical education, medical research, medical and healthcare service in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Now, the University has more than 11 thousand full time students and 3647 staff. There are 68 experts enjoy special government allowance from the State Council, 6 young experts have win the prize of "outstanding contribution to the nation", 19 staff have been chosen as national model teachers, national prominent teachers and national advanced worker, and 52 staff have been chosen as provincial model workers, prominent experts.

The University now is composed of 22 schools, 1 education department, 10 three-A level (in Chinese three–tiered category) affiliated hospitals (including 7 subordinate hospitals), 48 teaching and interning bases. Among them, the First Affiliated Hospital is one of the top 100 hospital in China, and the largest Hospital in Guangxi. The Tumor Hospital and the Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology are the largest three-A level specialist hospital, and all of the three hospitals are awarded "trustworthy hospital" by government.

The University has established exchange and cooperation links with universities, institutes, and hospitals over 50 countries including USA, Britain, Denmark, Japan, Australia etc. Outstanding staff and teachers are sent abroad for giving lectures, attending international conferences, as well as for further educations every year; meanwhile, foreign experts and scholars are also invited to the University for academic exchange and research cooperation.

Accommodation and facilities

School of International Education has four student dormitory buildings; different types of rooms are available: single,twin and triple room. Kitchen and bathroom are included. The room is fully equipped including bed,desk,bookcase,bedding and etc.

Checking in
New students must pay accommodation fees,deposit and other related fees before getting the room key and housing items in the Dormitory Management Division.

Electricity Policy
According to the time to hand over the accommodation fees,a certain amount of electricity will be supplied for free. 100 units of electricity are free for each room per month,the exceeded amount are paid by students.

Dormitory Front Door Administrative Time
School of International Education opens at 6:00am and closes at 12:00am.Students must comply with campus regulations. Any activities that influence others are prohibited at lunch time and after 11:00pm.

Dormitory Regulation
The dormitory is for student use only; guests are not allowed to stay overnight. In case of marriage or pregnancy while at school,student should move out of the dormitory for not affecting other students.

Visitors Policy
Visitors are required to show valid identification and fill out Visiting Registration Form. Security officer will verify all the information and a visiting permit will be given.
When visitor leaves,visitors must returned the visiting permit to security officer with resident host’s signature on it. Security officer record the time visitor leaves. All the visiting must be ended before 11:00pm.

Network Service
There are network interface in the room. Please go to the Information Center in the university library if internet service is needed. The connection fee is CNY50.00; internet fee is CNY20.00 per month.

Living outside the campus
International students are required to live in the international students’ hostel inside the campus. Students who want to apply for shifting out should follow the procedures:
1) Submit individual application,parental consent letter,proof of all fees paid up for the year and hardcopy of rental certificate or house property certificate of rental housing owner;
2) Fill out the Registration Form of Temporary Login Registration Form in the local police station of the public security organ;
3) Sign the off-campus housing agreement and guarantee with the school.

Note: Student who lives outside should obey Chinese laws and regulations, respect local custom and social morality,and at the same time, increase consciousness of personal security.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

2. Hold a Bachelor's degree,a graduating student of any medical university in China having passed postgraduate enrollment examinations or a top student under the recommendation of Guangxi Medical University

1.  Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number &expiration date and name included.

2.  Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3.  Bachelor's degree diploma
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

4.  Transcript of undergraduate school

5.  HSK Certificate (No need for English-taught program)
Level 3 or above

6.  Health certificate(optional)
Photocopy of physical examination record.

7.  Two recommendation letters(optional)
From professor,associate professor or equivalents.
