SDU Scholarship is set up by Shandong University, in order to encourage international students to come to study at Shandong University.

 

I. Eligibility Criteria:

1.  Outstanding students at our sister universities worldwide;

2.  Outstanding students of SDU Confucius Institutes/Class;

3.  Outstanding students at Shandong University;

The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health.

 

II. Scholarship category and qualification:

 

1. Scholarships for advanced study.

Duration is for one semester or one academic year. Applicants are required to have a basic knowledge Chinese language level, and be under the age of 55.

 

2. Scholarships for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages.

Duration is two years. Applicants are required to hold bachelor degrees or equivalent and be under the age of 45.

 

3. Scholarship for general post-graduate students (master and doctor)

Duration is two to six years, please find attached category. Applicants are required to hold bachelor degrees or above and be under the age of 45.

 

III. Scholarship coverage and criteria:

 

1.  Scholarship holders are exempt from campus registration, tuition, outpatient medical service and accommodation fees on campus

2.  Monthly allowances (CNY Yuan/month)

a)  Advanced study: CNY 1,400

b)  Master: CNY 1,700

c)  Doctoral: CNY 2,000

 

3.  One-off settlement subsidy, at the following rates (CNY Yuan):

a)  Students who will study in China for 1 academic year or more: CNY 1,500

b)  Students who will study in China more than one semester, but within one academic year: CNY 1,000.

 

4.  Comprehensive Medical Insurance: provided by SDU for scholarship students in China in case of hospitalization for serious disease or injury.

 

IV. Application and Evaluation:

 

1.  Applicants of advanced study and Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages, please log on to the http://cis.chinese.cn, establish an individual account, fill in the application form online, print the form and sign it; then submit it to Shandong University with other application materials before March 31st;

 

2.  Applicants of general post-graduate students (master and doctor), please log on to the http://laihua.csc.edu.cn, establish an individual account, fill in the application form online, print the form and sign it; then submit it to Shandong University with other application materials before March 31st;

 

V.  Application Documents:

 

Applicants must submit their documents according to the following instructions (all in duplicate):

 

1.  Application form for: log on to the above mentioned website, fill in and submit the form online; then print and submit it;

2.  Photocopy of passport photo page;

3.  Application statement: include applicants’ Chinese learning background and study plan in China. It should be no less than 200 words. Print and sign it in Chinese or English. For Masters and doctors, give a detailed plan for study and research in China.

4.  Chinese proficiency certificates: a copy of the HSK results is strictly required for applying Master and doctoral degree;

5.  Diploma and transcripts: issued directly by the educational administration office of the school/university, and with an official stamp. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translations in Chinese or English.

6.  Applicants for post-graduate studies are required to submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

VII.  Registration:

The scholarship winner must register before the deadline prescribed by the acceptance institutes. The scholarship will not be saved for those who do not register on time.
