ProgramAbout the Program

1. Teaching Target and Objectives

The Course is designed to improve students’ language skills within a short period of time and help them be adept in using Chinese in business activities. It’s more suitable for the students who hope to do business in China or with China as early as possible and have a strong desire of mastering Chinese language soon.

2. Teaching Goals

This Course focuses on training students to have the knowledge of business and the abilities of using business language. After completion, students can be competent for the jobs of business and trade. It mainly aims at:

1) Helping students master the skills of speaking and communicating in Chinese;

2) Helping students have a good basis on doing business with Chinese by learning and training of the vocabulary, drills, specialized knowledge of business Chinese;

3) Helping students realize the economic life and business practice in China by learning in class and practice in society, improving their capabilities of understanding business articles by training students’ reading skills, and training their capabilities of applying business Chinese by simulative practice in a business context.

3. Training Courses

Comprehensive Business Chinese (grammar, conversation, Chinese characters), Chinese Listening Comprehension, Chinese Reading and Chinese Conversation.

4. Level Placement

The course has three levels which are elementary, intermediate and advanced. Students will be placed into a suitable level according to their Chinese proficiency. Each level needs one-semester learning.

1) Students who have HSK grade 3 enter an elementary level class. 2) Students who have HSK grade 5 enter an intermediate level class. 3) Students who have HSK grade 7 enter an advanced level class.

5. Minimum of Applicants

If there are more than 15 applicants for each level, the course will be opened.

6. Length of Schooling

The Course lasts half a year (one semester), one year or two years. Every year has two semesters. Spring Semester opens in late February and Fall Semester opens in September. The exact opening date is available in Acceptance Letter.

About Shanghai International Studies University

Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was founded in December 1949 as the former Shanghai Russian College. It later was named the Shanghai Foreign Language Institute and became a national key university approved by the State Council in 1963. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 1994, it was officially renamed as “Shanghai International Studies University”. In the same year, it was listed as one of the first colleges and universities jointly supervised by the national Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Shanghai. In 1996, it passed the evaluation process of Project 211 directed by the Ministry of Education, and became one of the nation’s “100 key universities for the 21st Century.”

Shanghai International Studies University is a research, teaching, and multidisciplinary comprehensive university, committed to cultivating foreign language elites with “high-quality, multiple skills, international vision, spirit of innovation, and capacity of practice”. Having a long tradition of conscientious teaching and learning, SISU enjoys a very good reputation both at home and abroad.

Now, SISU has two campuses in Hongkou and Songjiang. The Hongkou campus is located in the center of Shanghai, covering 16.9 hectares with elegant surroundings. The Songjiang campus is in Shanghai's Songjiang New District, covering an area of 53.3 hectares, with a picturesque environment.

At present, SISU has a full-time enrollment of over 1,400 postgraduate students, 6,000 undergraduates, 800 college students, and 1,200 international students. There are also 25,000 other types of registered students in various programs.
SISU has a faculty with significant academic prestige and educational experience. The full-time teachers number more than 500, including more than 300 professors and associate professors as well as a group of young and middle-aged outstanding lecturers.

Shanghai International Studies University is located in Shanghai,China.Shanghai International Studies university has two campuses, Songjiang Campus and Hongkou Campus respectively.


Hongkou Campus 

Students in Language, most of the Chinese language and professional, international economy and trade (Chinese), business management (in Chinese) live in Hongkou Campus.There are SISU Guesthouse, SISU Hotel, Foreign Experts' Building, and Jinjiang Inn .

An 18-storey building, built in 1996, is located at 555 Chifeng Road, Hongkou District, with a distance of 5-minute walk from the campus. The Hotel, equipped with central air-conditioning, inside has a cafeteria, a grocery and a beauty parlor. Both double rooms and single room are available. Each room has a private bathroom, a telephone, a TV set, internet access, etc.

For semester programs: 

Standard Double room 75 RMB /person/day; 

Deluxe Double room 90 RMB /person/day

Single room: 125 RMB/day; 

Deluxe Single room: 160 RMB/day.


For summer or winter programs: 

Double room 80 RMB/person/day;

Single room: 130 RMB/day; 

Deluxe Single room: 160 RMB/day.





Introductions 
Jinjiang Inn, established in 2000 and renovated in 2010, it is managed by the Jinjiang International Hotels Group. Renowned for its good services, the inn provides FREE accesses to high-speed internet surfing (Wi-Fi), mini-fridge and public microwave as well as self-service laundry and set meals for international students at reasonable charges. Located on No. 718 Xi Jiangwan Road, it is extremely convenient in transportation and only 5-minute away from the campus of our university.

Double room: RMB 80 per person per day;

SISU Hotel 


Introduction

SISU Hotel is located at 555 Chifeng Road, Hongkou District, with a distance of 5-minute walk from the campus. The Hotel, equipped with central air-conditioning, has a cafeteria inside, a grocery and a beauty parlor. Both double rooms and single room are available. Each room has a private bathroom, a telephone, a TV set, internet access, etc.

Double room: 65 RMB/person/day (70 RMB/person/day in case of less-than-three-month lodging); 

Single room: 140 RMB/day.


Songjiang Campus


Introduction

A three-storey building built in 2001, is located on Songjiang Campus of SISU. Both double rooms and single rooms are available. Each room has an air-conditioner, a private bath, a telephone and a TV set.
