ProgramAbout the Program

Application Duration Mar 1st to May 30th for fall semesters (Sep). Tuition fee The two-year tuition is 100,000CNY (about 13,750USD based on the current exchange rate).You can pay by instalment for every year or every semester. The EMA program was established in 2005 by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA). It provides an opportunity of studying the political, diplomatic, and administrative reality of China for foreign students. All academic courses are taught in English. Our mission is to enhance both the students' analytical skills and their knowledge of China, with a purpose to build up a solid foundation for professional career. In 2009, ten students from nine countries got their MA degrees. The program admits both degree and non-degree students according to a competitive basis.

The EMA degree program requires a two-year full-time study. For non-degree students, they can study for one or two semesters. We offer courses including Political Development in Modern China, Chinese Diplomacy, Chinese Public Administration, International Politics, Chinese Economy, Chinese Modern History, International Relations in East Asia, Political Economy in East Asia, Research Methods, and Seminar Series on Chinese and World Affairs. The Faculty members have a diverse background and some of them received their Ph.D. degrees abroad. Scholarship

Fudan University offers Fudan Excellent Student Scholarship annually to second-year foreign students based on a university-wide competition. Those students that are self-supported are qualified for competing for this fellowship according to their academic performance. Fellowship application is made in September after the registration for the second year. Every year 10 graduate students get a scholarship of RMB15, 000 for excellence in academic study. Twenty students get a scholarship of RMB 5,000 for excellent performance in specific areas. The school sets Excellent Performance Scholarship and awards two students every year in October, starting in 2007. The prize is 5,000RMB each. The Scholarship applies to second-year students who are not awarded the University Scholarship. The Scholarship is awarded according to the voluntary application, the academic performance (weight 0.8) and the service to the community (weight 0.2).

Schools and Research Institutes

Fudan consists of 28 schools and departments, with seventy undergraduate disciplines. The University confers bachelor's degrees in seventy academic disciplines, and master's degrees in two hundred and twenty nine disciplines (with fifty-one of them established by the University itself), and doctoral degrees in twenty-four Level I and one hundred and fifty-four Level II academic disciplines (with thirty of them established by the University itself). There are also twenty-nine research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships.
  

Students

Fudan now has an enrollment of 26,362 full-time degree candidates. Another 18,664 are studying at the schools of Continuing Education and Online Education. Besides, the University's population of foreign students is 3,633 today.

 

Faculty

Fudan boasts a qualified faculty of over 2,678 full-time teachers and researchers, including 1,400 full professors and associate professors, 36 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 53 chair professors and 30 lecture professors of the Cheungkong Scholars Program, 17 chief scientists of Project 973. In the recent years, the University has been proactive in recruiting youthful strengths and optimizing the echelon of its faculty. Fudan has ten teaching hospitals, such as Zhong-shan (Dr. Sun Yat-san) Hospital and Hua-shan (Mount Lotus) Hospital, which offer quality medical service to the general public, conduct clinical education to student doctors and perform advanced scientific researches.

 

Goal

The single and solitary goal of Fudan is to cultivate more and more all-round talents for modern China. Emulating the other successful institutions of tertiary and quaternary education at home and abroad, the University has been carrying out a series of daring experiments to integrate the various disciplines of learning and to utilize the abundant resources of a comprehensive university. After years of exploring and practicing, Fudan has now established its own curriculum and management system, both of which are unique and progressively improving.

Accommodation

1. The one who reserves a room should be a formally recruited student of Fudan University; otherwise, here reservation is invalid.

2. Booking- online will start from 9a.m. January 11th, 2012 to 9a.m. January 13th, 2012.The number of rooms is limited; please try to book it as early as possible.

3. When reserving a room, new recruits should enter the student number and use the student number to pay the rents. You can use the student number to check the status of your reservation.

4. Students having succeeded in reserving the room should arrive within three days since the check-in date starts, or the reservation will be cancelled. If you arrive before the check-in date, we might not be able to provide the accommodation.

5. If due to special circumstances, you are not allowed to move into the room you have reserved, the school will arrange a similar room for you.

6. If you cancel your enrollment or fail to arrive within three days since the check-in date starts, the prepaid rent will not be returned.

7.  Due to the shortage of rooms, students who fail to reserve a room will be put into a waiting list automatically and we will give students a reply promptly.
In the above case, if you arrive within the registration dates, the school will arrange your room and board according to availability of the student housing. If we happen to have a room for you, you must pay online one semester fee in RMB. If there is no vacancy, the school will help you find housings around campus.

8. Price

The semester will start from February 20th, 2012 and end on July 6th, 2012. The total housing fee is 11040(RMB) for single room (Main Building), 80 Yuan/day. The total housing fee is 7590Yuan (RMB) for double room (Main Building), 55 Yuan/day. The total housing fee is 6210Yuan (RMB) for single room (Affiliated Building). Students should pay the prepaid rent (800 RMB) online right after booking the room and pay the rest of the housing fee online according to the room types they have applied for when they check in.

9. All students living in the dormitory cannot check out or change to another room within the semester (February 20, 2012—July 6, 2012).

10. Foreign students will be recognized as admitting all the articles mentioned above after making a reservation.

Foreign Students Dormitory Regulations

Foreign Students Dormitory of Fudan University only supplies accommodation for enrolled international students of Fudan University. International Students Office is responsible for the management of Foreign Students Dormitory. The University appointed SOUC Property Management Co., Ltd as the executive party of routine work in the dormitory.
Detailed regulations are as following.

1. Room reservation

The rooms of the Foreign Students Dormitory are reserved online. Online reservation is held twice per semester. New students’ reservation usually begins one month before the registration date of the following semester, furthermore senior students should reserve their room for the following semester before the end of each semester. As for the procedures and dates of dormitory reservation, please visit the website.Here you can also find relevant notices. If there is explicit stipulation that the university will offer accommodation for free, those scholarship students or exchange students should not book room themselves.

In case of group reservation, the program coordinator should contact dormitory manager one month in advance. The reservation will only be preserved by confirmation. The coordinator should guarantee dormitory occupancy rate. Any member from group reservation who finally does not check-in should pay 800RMB penalty.

Students should pay 800RMB as prepaid rent within set time after reservation. The reservation will be invalid and cancelled if the students do not pay the prepaid rent 3 days after the arranged set time. Students who have reserved dormitory must move into the room within 3 days after the appointed check-in date. Whoever does not move in the room by 3 days, the reserved room will be canceled and the 800RMB prepaid rent will not be returned.

If the student who has reserved a room can not arrive on time on the check-in date, he should send a written application by email or fax to the dormitory manager for keeping the reserved room. Only with the manager’s approval, the reservation will still be valid in the following 10 days.

2. Rental

Rental is calculated according to the actual number of days the student lives in the dormitory. The number of days is counted from the actual check-in date to the end of the semester. The prices are 80 RMB per day for a single room (Main Building), 55RMB per day per person for a double room (Main Building), and 45RMB per day for a single room (Affiliated Building). 12 o’clock at noon is the starting time of one more day staying. When a student checks in, he should pay the rental for the whole semester and housing deposit of 200RMB. Usually the student will not be allowed to check out in one semester.

Student who is approved to arrive late should pay the rental from the 4th day after the appointed check-in date.

If the students (only for single room students) who go back to their home country wish to keep the room during holidays, the reserved room will be charged 50% of the rental, i.e. 40RMB per day for Main Building and 25RMB for Affiliated Building. During this period of time, the students are not allowed to live in the dormitory.

3. Check-out Refund policy

Students should clean the room before they check-out. Please bring the room card and deposit receipt to the reception desk to process the check-out procedures. Dormitory working staff will check the room. If there is any damage to public goods, the student should compensate for the damage.

Any drop out or suspend student who wants to check out in the middle of the semester should provide the proof from the academic affairs office and the original rental invoice to process the check-out procedures and get refund.

The student who applies for early check-out due to other reasons may get refund according to their actual living days in the dormitory. If he has lived over 120 days, he may get refund for the rest of days. If he has lived less than 120 days, he may only get refund for the days after the 120th day.

If the group students apply for early check-out, the program coordinator of the group should send a name list to the dormitory manager. The students may get refund according to the agreements between the universities and the related management regulations.

All students who want to get refund should provide the original invoice of rental. Anyone who can not show the invoice will not get refund.

4. Check-in registration

All students should follow the check-in procedures at the dormitory reception desk and fill out the contract.

Students who live in the dormitory should be aware of the contents in the contract and obey the rules in the dormitory. Any one who violated the contract or relative dormitory regulations will get punishment according to the regulations.

These management regulations come into effect since June 1, 2011. If the regulations conflict with the previous management regulations, this latest version shall prevail. International Students Office of Fudan University reserves the right of final interpretation of the management regulations.

Entry Requirements

1. Undergraduate course work
Credentials documenting prerequisite academic work that gives evidence of ability to pursue a graduate program in your chosen area are required. To be considered for admission, you should have completed what Fudan University considers the equivalent of a four-year baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university prior to beginning graduate studies.
2. Grade point average
At minimum, a cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B grade) in all prior undergraduate college-level course work is required.
3. TOEFL or IELTS scores
To be qualified, applicants should have a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 or higher; or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5 or higher. Applicants from countries where English is the official language are exempted from this requirement.
4. Two letters of recommendation
