One-year Chinese Language program

East China Normal University is one of China's finest universities and is the official center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Located in Shanghai, East China Normal University (ECNU) is directly under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in China. It is also the offficial center for Instructing Chinese as a Foreign Language.The passing rate of HSK is always high. Engineering, science, management and economics are hot subjects there. In particular, International Business is taught in both Chinese and English. Besides, various cultural activities are organised for you. One year program provides a sponsorship for 11 months and they cover the following aspects.

• Exempt from tuition fee.

• Provide accommodation on campus: economic double room (public restroom). If you choose to live off-campus and get approval from the university, off-campus living allowance is 700 RMB/month/person.

• Living allowance: 2500 RMB/month. Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their host university each month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. Graduating students will receive stipend until half month after the graduation date. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days in one month due to personal reasons (school holidays excluded), monthly stipend will be stopped during the leaving month(s).

• Provide comprehensive medical care insurance for International Students: 800 RMB/person/year.

Zhongshan Rd. Campus

There are four international student dorms on Zhongshan Rd. Campus: International Exchange Service Center, No.1 International Student Residence Hall, No.2 International Student Residence Hall, No.12 Student Residence Hall.

(★The accommodation fees of the above dormitories are paid by semester and will not be refunded if you leave during the semester. )

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

Applicants shoule have the ages of 16-35 on September 1st, 2025. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.

Applicants should provide HSK certificate and have a minimum score of 210 in HSK test (Level 3). And the one who provides HSKK score is preferred.

Chinese Bridge' winners who have been awarded International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate are required to log on to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website and submit their application materials with their scholarship certificate. 1) Application form for  International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship filled in Chinese or English and generated by online application.

2) Copy of passport

* Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.

3) Highest diploma & Academic transcripts (original or notarized photocopy): Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4) A study or research plan. All applicants are required to submit a study or research plan. It must be in Chinese or in English and no less than 800 words.

5) Recommendation letters from recommending Institution.

6) Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The original copy should be kept by the applicant.) The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.

7) HSK & HSKK Certificate (the Chinese Proficiency Test, Valid for 2 years).
