International Economics and Trade

Located Beijing and founded in 1941, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) is a key university directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China. It is the first institution specializing in foreign language studies. Among the more than 7,000 registered BFSU students, there are approximately 1,000 international students. To date, BFSU has established extensive academic partnerships with 320 universities and educational institutions in 65 countries and regions of the world. Founded in 1999, the Department of International Economics and Trade is one of the earliest non-linguistic composite majors enrolled in our university. At present, a complete training system has been formed, including undergraduate, academic, professional and doctoral students. In 2020, the International Economics and Trade major was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major construction point.

The International Economics and Trade major combines talent training with the needs of national strategic development, based on a high degree of recognition of Chinese culture, experience and business practice, and is committed to cultivating composite and high-level international economic and trade talents with international vision, Chinese feelings and global competence, who can actively adapt to industry changes and have innovative thinking, and has become an important base for the country to cultivate international economic and trade talents.

This major has always been committed to effectively combining international economics and trade with English proficiency training, and constantly deepening the comprehensive reform of the major. The newly revised training plan takes "classification excellence" as the guiding ideology, further innovates the talent training model, and improves the innovative and practical talent classification training mode. Students in this major not only have a solid theoretical knowledge foundation of international economics and trade, but also have a strong academic foundation and knowledge application and practical operation ability through the introduction of advanced courses, research courses and experimental practical courses. At the same time, relying on the language training and international advantages of Beiwai characteristics, students have a broad international vision and strong English communication skills, and nearly half of the students have the opportunity to go abroad during their studies.

International School of Business at Beijing Foreign Studies University was established to create a truly progressive business education program set on the basis of integrating an American business teaching model with a deep understanding of Asian cultures. BFSU-Sol Bridge students enjoy the convenience of dormitories located on and nearby Beijing Foreign Studies University campus, a short walk away form classrooms and cafeterias. Our recently renovated dormitories are comfortable and clean. Students have the option of choosing among different styles and designs in accommodation and whether or not they prefer to share a room.

On-Campus Accommodation

Four dormitory buildings, located on the Beijing Foreign Studies University campus, are allocated for international students. They are the Guojiao Building on the east campus, the White Building, Building 6 and Building 7 on the west campus. All the rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, television set, telephone, desk and chair, bed and bedding. High-speed Internet Facilities and services are available in dormitory rooms and are provided at a nominal charge.

Off-Campus Accommodation

The off-campus dormitory is located a 15 minute walk from the BFSU-SolBridge campus. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, heater, telephone, Internet access, a balcony, bed and bedding, desk and chair. The dormitory complex also houses a cafeteria, convenience store and a bank. Transportation is very convenient and a bus to campus, or elsewhere, stops right outside the dormitory gates.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1, high school graduates, at least 18 years old, generally not more than 50 years old;

(2) Foreign citizens who do not hold Chinese nationality according to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China and hold valid ordinary passports for private purposes;

3. According to Notice No. 12 of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (2020), our University makes the following supplementary provisions for accepting applications from international students for undergraduate study:

(1) In accordance with the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, a person whose parents are both Chinese citizens and have settled abroad and who has acquired foreign nationality at birth shall not possess Chinese nationality. 

Applicants who apply for undergraduate study in our university as international students shall, in addition to meeting other registration qualifications of our university, hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have actually lived in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the last 4 years (as of April 30, 2025) (actually lived in a foreign country for at least 9 months in a year can be counted as one year). Subject to entry and exit signature).

4.Be physically and mentally healthy, meet the physical examination requirements for applying for visa or residence permit in China, meet the physical examination requirements for applying for the major of our university, and ensure the normal study and life during my stay in China.

5. No violation of discipline, no public security punishment, no criminal behavior and record, friendly to China, good conduct, abide by Chinese laws and school rules and regulations, respect the customs of the Chinese people.
