1. Introduction The course is concerned with exploring development practice from a global comparative perspective while looking at the specific development experience of China through a historical and analytical lens. Combining textbook theories and field practice into a coherent training whole, the course aims at developing the theoretical frameworks of students, broaden their analytical powers, and enhance their practical skills. All courses are taught in English by top Chinese and foreign scholars of development studies, and by high-level Chinese policymakers in the relevant fields. The course combines classroom lectures with field visits and internships in order to help students apply classroom knowledge in the real world environment.

Deposits and dorm fees for the first half-year must be paid within the first two weeks after you move in.
You are free to change accommodations among different dormitories and apartments within the first two weeks after the prescribed registration time, but if you change the room or check out after the two weeks you should pay the two-week accommodation fee as compensation.
Notice for Those Living off BNU Campus:
If you live off BNU campus, you must present to International Students Office your legal residence certificate.
If you live in a hotel, apartment or an international student building at other school, you must obtain a certification stamped by the building’s front office.
If you rent a Chinese house, you should get a completed REGISTRATION FORM OF TEMPORARY RESIDENCE with the official seal from the local police station. To get this form, you must register at the local police station within 24 hours after moving in. Bring your passport and your landlord, who must present a household registration booklet. Those without a valid certificate will be considered illegally residing in China and will receive a warning or fine.
Food
The canteen in Lanhui International Students' Apartment has seating for 200 people. The average cost per day is about RMB 20 yuan. Other canteens and restaurants on campus are also open to international students, and within walking distance of campus there are a variety of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Western fast-food restaurants.

Foreign students with English as a second language must be able to verify their English proficiency (e.g. having a basic degree from an institution in an English-speaking country or a certificate documenting performance on an international test: in the case of TOEFL, a score above 637points(paper-based) /263 points(internet-based) is required, and for IETLS, a score above 7.0 is required. In addition, a minimum score of 5.0 in writing part of TOEFL is required and in the same case in IETLS, the minimum score is 7.0)
