Logistics Engineering

Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education, jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. It is an active contributor in China's “211 Project”, "985 Innovative Platforms for Strength Disciplines in Engineering” and "Double First-class Project".

BJTU, as one of the three origins of the Jiaotong Universities, traces its history to 1896 when the Qing dynasty government established the Railway Management Institute as the first higher education institution in China, dedicated to cultivating management professionals. It became the cradle of modern railway management and telecommunication education in China. In 1917, it was restructured into Beijing Railway Management School and Beijing Post and Telecommunication School, and in 1921, it merged with Shanghai Industrial College and Tangshan Industrial College to form the National Jiaotong University. After reorganization in 1923, the institution was renamed Beijing Jiaotong University. In 1950, it was designated as Northern Jiaotong University, with its name inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong and renowned bridge expert Mao Yisheng serving as its president. Renamed Beijing Railway Institute in 1952, it reverted to Northern Jiaotong University in 1970. In 2000, it merged with Beijing Electric Power College and transitioned from the Ministry of Railways to direct administration under the Ministry of Education. The current name, Beijing Jiaotong University, was officially reinstated in 2003.

Teaching Objective

The aims of the Program of Logistics Management are cultivating international commercial and engineering specialists in Logistics Management and Engineeringwho are skilled with the basic theory and fundamental knowledge of management, economics, statistics and information, can be engaged in international logistics management, analysis of enterprise logistics management simulation and optimization, logistics information system design and development, logistics system planning and design. Logistics management demands students to master the necessary basic skills such as foreign language, computer information, statistics, modern enterprise logistics management and logistics internationalization management.

• To master the basic theories, knowledge of logistics management discipline;

• To master the analysis of the enterprise logistics management methods and engineering techniques;

• To acquire strong cross-cultural communication skills, and be familiar with computer, network communications and information processing technology knowledge.

• To acquire modern logistics management theory, application prospects and development trends;

• To master logistics data analysis and processing ability has the preliminary scientific research and practical work.

Major Courses

The program has been developed in response to the increasing complexity and diversity of logistics management. The program is focused on computer technology, logistics management and logistics engineering by 3 modules (the list below is a part of the all courses)

Beijing Jiaotong University, situated at Xizhimenwai of Beijing, is a key university directly under China’s Ministry of Education. Its predecessors are Beijing Railway Management Training Institute and Beijing School of Posts and Telecommunication set up in Qing Dynasty. In 1921, the school was integrated into two industrial technical schools respectively in Shanghai and Tangshan thus to form the National Jiaotong University, with three branch universities in Beijing, Shanghai and Tangshan, Beijing Jiaotong University was thus called as Beijing Campus of National Jiaotong University. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in October 1st 1949, BJTU was re-named as Northern Jiaotong University (NJTU) by the State Council. Chairman Mao Zedong appointed Academician Mao Yisheng, a nationally renowned expert in bridge engineering, as the first president of NJTU.

In 1951, Chairman Mao Zedong autographed the name of the university. 1981, BJTU became one of the first key universities authorized by the central government to confer master's and doctoral degrees, and subsequently to confer titles of associate professors, professors and Ph.D. advisors. In July 1994, BJTU was selected as one of the first universities in the National 211 Project. In April 2000, Beijing Electrical Power College was merged into NJTU. Then the university was transferred from the Ministry of Railways to the Ministry of Education. In September 2003, the university restored the name Beijing Jiaotong University.

Introduction of School of Software Engineering (SSE)

The School of Software Engineering at Beijing Jiaotong University was founded in March, 2003. As one of the  key software engineering schools, School of Software Engineering the most advanced educational philosophy which is based on CDIO engineering educational principle and combined with the innovation explored by ourselves. Guided by this principle, the best teaching service is provided to our students in order to make them be cultivated to the most desired talents by software and IT industry. The school moves into high speed development phase now. There are around 1,000 regular registered students and over 100 staff in school. In 2007, the major of software engineering in our school was rewarded to National Level advance Major by Ministry of Education in China, and the school was granted to be The Software Engineering Talent Cultivation Base.

Beijing Jiaotong University is one of the first universities authorized to enroll overseas students. Up to now, it has trained over 2,600 foreign students and visiting scholars from as many as 40 countries and regions including Asia, Africa, Europe, America and etc. we have successively established cooperative relations with over 40 universities in America, Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Japan, Russia, Canada, Korea, Ukraine, Singapore and etc, and cooperate with Siemens, Alstom, Intel, Cisco and other internationally famous Hi-tech corporations. Furthermore, we have employed over 1,000 famous experts and professors from 20 countries and regions to visit and teach in our university, and about 30 renowned scholars take the posts of honorary professors and advisory professors, and in turn, we have sent about 500 teachers and students to attend in advanced studies abroad. We have also either held or sponsored several international academic symposiums.

Students shall pay their on-campus accommodation fee by semester or by year. Those who live over one-semester enjoy a discount. Those who live less than one semester pay according to short-term accommodation rate. All students shall obey the Regulation of Accommodation Management for International Students at BJTU.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1.非中国籍公民（“一带一路”沿线国家），身体健康；

Non-Chinese citizens (from Belt and Road countries ), in good health.

2.学历和年龄要求：Education and age requirements：

(1)来华攻读本科学位者，须具有高中学历，年龄不超过25岁；

Applicants for bachelor’s degree must have a high school degree and be no more than 25 years old;

(2)来华攻读硕士学位者，须具有学士学位，年龄不超过35岁。

Applicants for master’s degree must have a bachelor degree and be no more than 35 years old.

3.语言要求: Language requirements：

(1)申请中文授课专业，中文水平须满足以下任一条：

For Chinese-medium majors, Chinese proficiency must meet any one of the following criteria:

①近两年内的汉语水平考试成绩应达到HSK3级180分以上（进入专业学习须达到HSK5级180分以上，未达标须参加由奖学金资助的汉语补习）；

A score of 180 or higher on the HSK3 within the last two years (A score over 180 on HSK 5 is required to enter the major study; otherwise a Chinese language study funded by scholarship is required)；

②用汉语完整学习过学历项目，并获得学历证书。

Have studied a complete degree program in Chinese and received the degree certificate.

(2)申请英文授课专业，英语水平须满足以下任一条：

For English-medium majors, English proficiency must meet any one of the following criteria：

①近两年内雅思成绩6.0分以上（含）或托福成绩80分以上（含）;

IELTS score of 6.0 or above (inclusive) or TOEFL score of 80 or above (inclusive) within the last two years;

②用英语完整学习过学历项目，并获得过学历证书。

由中国教育部设立，支持一带一路沿线国家留学生来华攻读本科、硕士学位。

Established by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the program supports international students from Belt and Road countries to pursue undergraduate and master’s degrees in China.

资助标准：免交注册费、学费、实验费和基本实习费；提供校内住宿；提供来华留学生综合医疗保险；提供生活费（本科生2500元人民币/月，硕士研究生 3000 元人民币/月）。

Financial support: exemption of registration fee, tuition fee, laboratory fee and basic internship fee; on-campus accommodation; comprehensive medical insurance for international students; living expenses (RMB 2500/month for undergraduate students and RMB 3000/month for master students).

获奖者每年须通过评审才能继续享受奖学金。

Scholarship holders must pass the annual review to continue studying with scholarship.
