Long-term Chinese Language Program

Every foreigner that has studied Chinese has heard the name “Beijing Language and Culture University.” This school’s fame comes from the fact that it is China’s only university specifically designed to teach foreigners Chinese language and culture. This school has more international students than any other institution in China.

Program Description:

Therefore, as an established institution of teaching and researching Chinese language as a second/foreign language, we are faced with unprecedented opportunities. What we shall do is to fully display the superiority of the studies of Chinese as a second/foreign language, and to further strengthen the exchanges and co-operations with other institutions of higher education both at home and abroad. 3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

Non-Chinese nationals 

2. Friendly towards China, with no criminal record, and abiding by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government as well as the school's rules and regulations. 

3. Physically and mentally healthy, with excellent academic performance; 

4. Those who are interested in engaging in Chinese language education, teaching and related fields; 

5. Age range: 16 - 35 years old (calculated as September 1, 2025). For in-service Chinese teachers, the age limit is relaxed to 45 years old. For applicants for the undergraduate scholarship, the age should generally not exceed 25 years old.

Enrollment in September 2025, with a funding period of 11 months. The professional direction is divided into two categories: 

(1) In the field of international Chinese education, the Chinese language examination score must reach 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and possess HSKK score. 

(2) Major in Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, or Chinese Philosophy. The Chinese language test score must reach 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate Level). 

(3) For the Chinese language training program, candidates must achieve a HSK (Level 3) score of 210 or higher. Those who have obtained a HSKK score will be given priority.

3. Recommendation letter from the head of the recommending institution. 

4. Highest academic degree certificate (or expected graduation certificate. Students who provide the expected graduation certificate must submit the official highest academic degree certificate before the start of the school term and registration date). 

Other materials to be submitted when applying for an academic course:

The scholarship for international Chinese language teachers covers: tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses (except for four-week interns) and comprehensive medical insurance fees. 

The online scholarship program only covers tuition fees.
