B.A.Program: Chinese Language (spring semester)

Every foreigner that has studied Chinese has heard the name “Beijing Language and Culture University.” This school’s fame comes from the fact that it is China’s only university specifically designed to teach foreigners Chinese language and culture. This school has more international students than any other institution in China.

Compulsory Courses

Modern Chinese Pronunciation (early selective course for the Chinese Instruction major), Selective Readings of Chinese Culture, Chinese Idioms, Modern Chinese History, Contemporary Chinese History, Intermediate Chinese Reading, Fundamentals of Chinese Writing, Fundamentals of Publication Language, Chinese Cultural Geography, Fundamentals of Japanese-Chinese Translation, Fundamentals of Korean-Chinese Translation, etc.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1.Applicant should be a senior high school graduate or with equivalent schooling in the age bracket of 18-50,with an HSK certificate (level 3 or above).
2.Those who have basic knowledge of Chinese language without any HSK certificate should take the HSK test at BLCU. Only qualified students can be admitted as B.A. students. Those who fail the test shall be enrolled as language students to study in a foundation class for half a year. After they finish the half year of study and pass HSK Level 3, they can further their studies as B.A. students. HSK test applicants need to submit three passport photos along with other required documents. The test fee is RMB 250.

Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
