International Economics and Trade

Xi'an University of Finance and Economics is a regular higher education institution sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and jointly established by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the National Bureau of Statistics. The school originated from the Northwest Trade School established in 1952 and the National Bureau of Statistics Xi'an Statistical School established in 1954. The school currently has four campuses in Chang'an, Yanta, Cuihua East, and Cuihua West, covering an area of over 1600 acres. The Yanta and Cuihua campuses are adjacent to the famous Tang Dynasty Wild Goose Pagoda, while the Chang'an campus is located on the Shenhe Plain at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains.

The school has established a discipline system characterized by statistics, with economics, management, science, law, engineering, literature, art and other disciplines supporting and coordinating each other. At present, the school has 13 colleges including School of Economics, School of Statistics, School of Business, School of Management, School of Information, School of Law, School of Liberal Arts, School of Public Management, School of Foreign Languages, School of Mathematics, School of Continuing Education, School of International Education, School of Marxism, and sports teaching department. There are more than 1210 full-time teachers, including 72 national, provincial and ministerial experts, 24 national model teachers, provincial famous teachers, excellent teachers, exemplary individual, teachers' moral pacesetters, exemplary individual, and Shaanxi teachers' moral models.

The school currently has 7 first level discipline master's degree authorization points, including Applied Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Law, Public Administration, Marxist Theory, and Mathematics. There are 15 professional master's degree authorization categories, including Finance, Applied Statistics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering Management, Journalism and Communication, Taxation, Audit, Law, International Chinese Education, Electronic Information, and Public Management. Statistics has been listed as a construction discipline of "domestic first-class discipline construction universities" in Shaanxi Province. The school currently has 47 undergraduate majors, including 12 national level "first-class undergraduate majors" construction points, 11 provincial level "first-class undergraduate majors" construction points, 2 national level comprehensive reform pilot projects, 10 provincial level comprehensive reform pilot projects, 3 national level characteristic majors, 6 provincial level characteristic majors, and 3 provincial famous brand majors. There are 34 first-class undergraduate courses at or above the provincial level, and 11 provincial ideological and political demonstration courses (teaching teams). At present, there are over 19400 full-time students and 13 international students in the school.

International Economics and Trade is an undergraduate major in ordinary institutions of higher learning in China, belonging to the category of economics and trade. The code for this major is 020401, and the duration of study is four years. Upon completion, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Economics degree. Here is a detailed introduction: 

Professional Overview: This major mainly focuses on the study of basic knowledge and skills in economics principles, international economy, international trade, etc. It aims to enable students to understand the current environment and development status of China's foreign trade and contemporary international economic and trade. Students will also become familiar with international trade rules, laws and conventions, as well as China's foreign trade policies and regulations. Subsequently, they will be able to engage in import and export business and foreign economic and trade activities.

Training Objectives: To cultivate application-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and internationalized talents with good moral character and ethical standards. They should have a systematic grasp of the basic knowledge and theories of economics and trade studies, be familiar with international trade rules, be proficient in using a foreign language and modern information technology, possess excellent communication, coordination, and innovation capabilities, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1. Have the nationality of the countries along the "the Belt and Road", hold a valid foreign ordinary passport, be friendly to China, and be healthy.

2. Have good conduct, abide by laws and regulations, be diligent and eager to learn, and have no record of illegal or criminal activities.

3. Applicants must have a degree equivalent to that of a Chinese high school graduate and be under the age of 25 (students under the age of 18 must provide a power of attorney and other materials from their legal guardian).

(1) Scholarship Details 

The applicants are pre-university students and outstanding international students in the first year of undergraduate studies (only covering the first-year study of new students). 

2. The stipend for pre-university students is 1,000 yuan per month. It is calculated based on the actual study period, and does not exceed 10 months throughout the year. The scholarship is awarded once a year. 

3. The funding amount for undergraduate students is 15,000 yuan, and it is distributed once a year.  

4. Students who receive this scholarship are not allowed to concurrently enjoy other types of scholarships provided by either within or outside the university. 

(2) Scholarship Management  

Scholarship recipients are required to participate in the evaluation organized by the school. Those who fail the evaluation will have their scholarships suspended. 

Those who have received school disciplinary actions for violating rules or committing illegal acts will be disqualified from receiving the scholarship. 

The funds for this scholarship are usually disbursed after the start of the semester. Students need to prepare for tuition fees, accommodation costs, textbook expenses, living expenses, international travel expenses, insurance fees, medical examination fees, residence permit fees, etc. in advance. 

After the scholarship is received, it will be distributed in accordance with the relevant regulations. 

Students who receive this scholarship are not eligible to concurrently receive other types of financial aid from either within or outside the university.
