The GTIIT Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Program comprises a variety of disciplines in Energy, Powertrain, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Thermal Science, Dynamics, Control, Material Mechanics, Design, Manufacturing and Mechatronics. It offers a wide interdisciplinary engineering education, providing professional choices in the above areas, as well as hands-on training in the up-to-date laboratory experience and engineering projects linked with most important industrial branches, such as Energy Productions, Robotics, Materials and Systems’ Manufacturing, Instrumentation and more. The Programs allows acquiring knowledge and experience in solving practical engineering problems, as well as in research and development in a wide variety of cutting edge modern technology areas.
The Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution established by Shantou University (STU) and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology( theTechnion) with independent legal status. As the only sino-foreign joint university focusing on science and technology, GTIIT is also acting as the China Campus of the Technion. GTIIT is located in the city of Shantou, Guangdong province.
The Ministry of Education approved GTIIT's formal establishment on December 5, 2016. GTIIT is modeled on the Technion, a leading university in Haifa, Israel and throughout the world. GTIIT is the flagship program in the cooperation between China and Israel, and has been fully supported by the Guangdong Provincial Government, Shantou Municipal Government and Li Ka Shing Foundation. The vision of GTIIT is to become a world-class international university, conducting cutting-edge research in the fields of science and technology. This research will boost entrepreneurship and technology transfer, and foster a high-tech industrial ecosystem in Shantou and Guangdong Province. GTIIT cultivates pioneering scientists and researchers with innovation power, global vision and humanities.
GTIIT has been listed in the Guangdong High Level University Development Program. Four disciplines, including Materials Science and Engineering, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are listed as key disciplines.
English is GTIIT's language of instruction. GTIIT will be comprised of three colleges: the College of Engineering; the College of Science; and the College of Life Sciences. The goal is to have about 5,000 students eventually. The institute will eventually grant Technion engineering degrees at all levels - Bachelor, Masters and PhD, and maintain the high academic standards of education, research and innovation for which the Technion's Haifa campus is world-renowned. Graduates will receive a GTIIT graduation certificate, degree certificate and Technion degree certificate.
Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Principal scientist of the Major Scientific Research Programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Fellow of the American Physical Society, is the Chancellor of GTIIT.
GTIIT provides a comfortable living environment.
Most GTIIT undergraduate students will be placed in a triple occupancy room. Each room have three lofted beds with drawers. Students will have their own closet, desk and chair, and share a balcony, toilet and bathroom with their roommates. Air-conditioners are prepared in each room.
24-hour cold and hot water, free campus internet and a shared laundry room are provided each building.
There is a shared kitchen on each floor with cooking area and dining area, equipped with kitchen appliances including induction cooker, microwave and range hood.
English Proficiency Test
Since the academic program at GTIIT is taught in English, applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency before they enroll. Applicants from high schools where English is not the primary language of instruction are required to submit official copies of their scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, the SAT Reasoning, or ACT Plus Writing Test.

Candidates applying from the USA or from high schools taught according to the American system, must take a standardized test (SAT or ACT) before applying. GTIIT has minimum test score requirements for the math section as detailed below. Those who take tests in other subjects may send their results in as well.

• Secondary school diploma and transcripts covering three years (students should have a strong background in math/science. A background in Physics is mandatory)

• Standardized test (SAT or ACT or AST) according to the student’s country of origin

• Personal statement
• Students who are non-native English speakers must also submit English proficiency test scores, either TOEFL or IELTS (see below for required minimum and recommended score)

* An original copy must be sent to the Admissions Office directly from the evaluator. At least one letter should be from a mathematics or science teacher.
