In 1958, the Central South College of Fine Arts moved south from Wuhan to Guangzhou and was renamed the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. In 2023, after review and approval by the Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council, six new degree authorization points were adjusted and added. Two degree authorization points will be approved in 2024. At present, the school has a total of 3 doctoral degree authorization points, including 2 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees (Art Studies and Design Studies), and 1 category authorized for doctoral professional degrees (Fine Arts and Calligraphy). There are 9 master's degree authorization points, including 3 first-level disciplines for master's degree authorization (Art Studies, Design Studies, and Architecture), and 6 master's professional degree authorization categories (Fine Arts and Calligraphy, Design, Drama and Film, Museum, Landscape Architecture, and Education). The school has a postdoctoral research station for art studies.

History of Chinese and Foreign Art
China Section: From Neolithic painted pottery to Ming and Qing literati paintings, with a focus on explaining the "Northern and Southern School Theory" of landscape painting and the system of the imperial painting academy, etc.
Western section: Ancient Greek sculptures, the Three Masters of the Renaissance, Impressionist light and shadow techniques, contemporary installation art, etc., supplemented by the appreciation of museum collections.

The predecessor of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts was Central South College of Fine Arts. It was established in Wuhan, Hubei Province in 1953 in accordance with the national construction layout as a specialized art college. 8. Portfolio. A portfolio related to the applied major, with a brief introduction to each work (including the work name, size, creation time, creation description, etc.); Or the list and abstracts of published academic articles; Or other original academic achievements.
9. Proof of economic status and guarantor of affairs in China.
Submit a deposit balance certificate issued by the bank, with an amount of approximately 100,000 RMB or more. If the bank account is not held by the applicant himself/herself, proof of family relationship with the economic guarantor must be submitted simultaneously, such as: birth certificate, household register, notarized documents, etc.

10. Copy of the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners". The examination results must be stamped with the official seal of the hospital and are valid for six months.
