Program Overview

The objective of civil engineering major is to fester high-level applicative talents who have comprehensive quality in the domain of humanity and science. The graduates will have solid foundation for specialty knowledge and have creative ability to fulfill the requirement of engineering practice in the future. After the training of fundamental principles and knowledge in the discipline of civil engineering as a qualified engineering, the graduates will be cultivated to be competent for the professional position such as construction, structural design, engineering investigation, management, engineering consulting, education, research and development in the engineering fields of civil architecture, highway, bridge, tunnel as well as railway.

Program Objectives To nurture qualified and skilled talents who are well-versed in Chinese language and culture, who will have a good grasp of knowledge in international trade, management, and finance as well as the experience in operating and handling real-life projects, especially those pertaining to Chinese economy, society, and who understand the Chinese culture values, so as to meet the demands of the fast changing world economy.

1. History of LCU

Liaocheng University (LCU), a provincial comprehensive university, is located in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, which is a famous national historical and cultural city known as “Water City North of the Yangtze River.” LCU was founded in 1974 as of Shandong Teachers’ College, Liaocheng Branch. In 1981, with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Liaocheng Branch was renamed as Liaocheng Teachers’ College. And then in 2002, approved by the Ministry of Education of the PRC, LU adopted its present name.

2. Programs and Disciplines:

LCU now has 25 colleges, 9 research institute, 34 master programs and 91 bachelor programs involving philosophy, economy, laws, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management,art, medicine and so on. The total students are more than 30000.

3. Faculty:

LCU now has Full-time teachers 1900 including 226 professors, 654 associate professors. It has 2 experts for the national " Thousand Talents Program", and has 7 "Taishan scholars" and foreign exports. LCU now owns 11 experts who can enjoy the special allowance of the state council, 5 national outstanding teachers and 6 provincial outstanding teaching teams. Mr. Ji Xianlin, the master of Oriental Studies, is the honorary President of LU. Professor and doctorial supervisor Cheng Yuhai is the Secretary of the Party Committee of LU, and Professor and doctorial supervisor Song Yiqiao is the current President.

4. International cooperation:

Active in international cooperation in recent years, LCU has established cooperative relationship with over 20 countries and areas including Hong Kong Macau and Taiwan, Until now there are 30 cooperative and exchange programs between LCU and the above countries and areas.

Living on Campus

Liaocheng University provide double room accommodaiton on campus. Life on campus is very convenient and safe. Most Chinese students will choose to live in the dormitories on campus because of its reasonable prices, complete facilities and safe surroundings. Most of china’s universities provide international students dormitories for foreign students. Usually there are single-room, double-room and three-room dormitories for foreign students. The students can choose what they like. Most of the dormitories are equipped with necessary facilities including internet access, TV, basic furniture, toilet, telephone or even kitchens. Universities in the north also provide heaters in winter. As to the fees it is quite reasonable.

1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport

2. High school graduate or equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate

3. Be in good health condition and above the age of 18

Photocopy of the signatured financial guarantee letter from his/her financial guarantor to prove their solvency.
