Applied Psychology

The Faculty of Psychology at Tianjin Normal University upholds thespirit of “Virtue as the Foundation” advocated by Professor Shen DeliUtilizing advanced experimental technologies and interdisciplinaryapproaches, the faculty focuses on high-efficiency learning and nationalmental health research. It offers master's, doctoral, and postdoctoralprograms in psychology, forming a comprehensive talent developmentsystem. The laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge facilities,includingfunctional MRl, magnetoencephalography (EG),andfunctional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). During the 14th Five-YearPlan period, the faculty established the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei MentalHealth and Social Governance Center”, providing nationally leadingresearch conditions.

History of TNU

Tianjin Normal University (TNU), founded in 1958, was originally named Tianjin Teachers College and was named as Tianjin Normal University in June 1982. 

In April 1999, with the approval by the Ministry of Education, Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC and Tianjin Municipal Government decided to found the new Tianjin Normal University by integrating the old Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Teachers' Training Academy, and Tianjin Educational Institute. 

Approved by Tianjin Municipal Government in March 2003, the construction project of the new campus of TNU was officially initiated. 

Faculties

TNU now has 23 colleges, 1 independent college, 49 research institutes, and 87 specialties for undergraduates (including 56 specialties for 4-year students and 31 for 2-year students). Offering programs at various levels and in many disciplines, the university has developed a unique system of education, with a series of pre- and in – service training courses and different levels of education for different purposes: for academic degrees, for diplomas or simply for training. The programs offered have already covered 8 of the 11 academic disciplines for undergraduates. 

Achievements

TNU also boasts the "Psychology and Behavior Research Center", one of the one hundred major humanities and social sciences research centers under the Ministry of Education, Tianjin research lab of modern Pedagogical techniques, a key lab of water environment and water resources and a research center for politics and humanistic social science. It also has an affiliated middle school and an affiliated primary school.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1.Non-Chinese citizenship, in good health

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written inChinese or English online);

2. The scanned copy ofPassport first page;The scanned copy of the passport first page. Applicants must submit aclear scanned copy of the first page of their passport. The passport shouldnot expire before May 2026. If the validity date of the current passportdoes not meet the requirements, please renew it in time.

3.  highest diploma;

Applicants must submit official document issued by the current school toprove student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languagesother than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or

English translations.

4.Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached

with notarized Chinese or English translations5. Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English);Applicants for bachelor's program should submit a Chinese/English studyplan (more than 500 words), and applicants for a master's/doctoralprogram should submit a Chinese/English study plan (more than 1000words).

6. Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English):Applicants for Master's or Doctor's Degree should submit two recommendation letters signed by two protessors or associate protessors

8. Valid documents of the legal guardians in China (only required forapplicants under the age of 18);

Non-criminal Record Report must be issued by the applicant's localpublic security authority, usually within 6 months before the date ofapplication.
