Biological Science

The Faculty of Biological & Environmental Sciences is composed of three departments including Bioscience, Environmental Science and Food Science. The faculty provides five bachelor degree programs, namely biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, food science and engineering as well as food quality and safety. It has set up key municipal laboratories---the Ningbo Agricultural Product Processing Laboratory and three other research institutes including the Institute of Biotechnology, the Institute of Microbiology and Environmental Sciences Research Center.

The facilities for education and experiments are of the highest standard. There are basic biology and environment laboratory, laboratories of chemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental protection and food technology in the experimental center. Moreover, many modern facilities are available therefore experiments relating to molecular biology and environmental and food tests can be carried out there.

The faculty attaches great importance to the dual aim of training qualified personnel and the integration of theory and practice, and to the cooperation with other universities at home and abroad. So far the faculty has established cooperative programs with Zhejiang University, University of Dundee, University of Hertfordshire etc.
