Founded in 1958, Fuzhou University is one of the national key universities that are selected into the “211 Project”, a Chinese government programme for the 21st century to support 100 selected universities for their further rapid development. Since its establishment, Fuzhou University has developed into a key comprehensive university in Fujian Province, giving priority to engineering courses and also enjoying a reputation for excellence in other fields including sciences, economics, management, liberal arts, law, arts and design, etc.
Fuzhou University has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan regions and foreign countries. At present, there are about 50,000 students in Fuzhou University, including about over 5,200 doctoral and master’s degree seekers. Since its establishment, about 200,000 students graduated from Fuzhou University, including full-time doctoral and master’s degree students as well as those with the bachelor’s degrees and associate degrees.
Fujian Province,called "Min" for short, is situated at China's southeast coast. The Province covers an area of 121, 400 square kilometers and has a population of about 36.89 millions. The province capital is Fuzhou.
Fujian has a mild and humid climate, with abundant rainfall. Based on the mountain at the back and overlooking the sea, Fujian is known for its "eight mountains, one river and one tenth of Chinese Mu of rice field, " and enjoys its numerous mountains, vast sea and mild temperature. The Province is rich in mineral resources, forestry, waterpower and aquatic products. Numerous varieties of flowers and fruits abound in Fujian. Longan, lichee, orange, banana, loquat, pineapple and olive are widely grown. Of all the flowers and plants in Fujian, well-known Zhangzhou narcissuses come first on the list. Fujian is one of the major tea-producing provinces in China. Chongan Wuyiyan tea, Anxi Tieguanyin, Fuzhou jasmine tea and Fu'an black tea are all very famous. Fishery is very much developed along the coast. Its lancelet is world-famous while its sea clam is widely regarded as a delicacy. Industry in Fujian is of considerable dimensions. The major industrial product groups are building materials, forest products, light industrial products, electronic products, chemical products, machinery products, metallurgical products and so on. Shoushan is known for its stone carving, Fuzhou for its bodiless lacquerware and Dehua for its porcelain.
Fujian boasts its numerous tourist attractions, both in beautiful scenery and in outstanding and influential figures. Tourist areas include mountains, rivers and well-known cities. The province capital of Fuzhou, surrounded by mountains, is a beautiful city astride the Minjiang River. The Drum Hill suburban Fuzhou affords fine views of both the sea and the river, and is an ideal scenic spot for outing. Xiamen, known as "Garden on the Sea", is a picturesque coastal city. Gulangyu, a hilly islet in Xiamen city, called as "Island of Music", fascinates people with its attractive scenery and buildings. A highest point on Gulangyu, the Sunshine Rock, commands a good view of the sea and the city. Quanzhou is one of China's famous historic and cultural ancient cities with many historical sites. Zhangzhou is world famous for its lichee, banana, longan and narcissuses. Mount Wuyi, listed by UNESCO as a world natural as well as cultural heritage, has been lavishly praised by poets ancient and modern alike. The view of its nine-zigzag stream and thirty-six peaks is just breathtaking. With its picturesque mountain peaks and clear stream water, Mt. Wuyi provides an attractive escape from the city life.

Fresh high school graduates or those who have obtained a high school diploma (other diplomas equivalent to high school education are recognized in reference to high school diplomas), with good academic performance.
All relevant high school diplomas must be recognized by the education administrative department of the country where they are located and notarized. Fresh graduates must provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their school and stamped with the school's official seal. When reporting for enrollment, you must provide the original copy of your graduation diploma and notarized materials for verification.
Language Requirements for Admission
By 2025, all majors will be taught in Chinese and no majors will be taught in English. Admission requirements: A score of 210 or above on the HSK5 (Chinese Proficiency Test Level 5) certificate, and the certificate should be valid. Graduates from independent Chinese secondary schools in Malaysia are exempted from the Chinese Proficiency Test (as certified by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia). Applicants who have used Chinese as the medium of instruction during high school may use a teaching certificate issued by their high school as an alternative.

Those who fall under the third item of the "Application Conditions" must submit the first page of a valid ordinary passport, the entry and exit stamps, the "birth certificate" and "naturalization certificate" issued by the passport-issuing country, as well as the valid identification documents of their parents. Applicants of overseas Chinese (including former Chinese citizens who have acquired foreign nationality and their foreign descendants, as well as foreign descendants of Chinese citizens) are required to provide relevant materials for nationality determination.
(3) Three recent color passport-sized photos without a cap. Specification: 2 inches (3.5*5.3 cm), blue background without borders, the head occupies 2/3 of the photo size. The name should be noted on the back of the paper photo.

(4) A notarized high school diploma or pre-graduation certificate. The pre-graduation certificate must be stamped with the official seal of the school.
(5) Scanned copies of all academic transcripts during high school that have been notarized. The transcript should have the official seal of the school. Other internationally recognized standardized test results can be provided as a reference.
(6) Two recommendation letters. The letter should be written in either Chinese or English and must include the recommender's name, organization, position, contact information, etc. (Please note: A recommendation letter with incomplete information is invalid.) It should be signed by the recommender himself/herself or stamped with the official seal of the recommending organization.
(7) Proof of Language Proficiency (refer to the "Language Proficiency Requirements for Admission" in the application conditions)

The physical examination report must be pasted with the individual's photo, stamped with the hospital's official seal and covering the lower edge of the photo. The validity period is within six months.
(10) Certificate of no criminal record. It is usually within six months prior to the date of application submission.
(11) Other papers, awards, scientific research achievements, skill qualification certificates and other documents, as well as certificates of participation in cultural and sports exchange activities, etc. Please note: Applicants for Xiamen University of Arts and Design must provide one work related to the applied major.
(12) Those who have not received scholarship support may come to the school for study at their own expense. After obtaining the admission qualification, it is necessary to supplement and submit the financial guarantee for studying in China and the financial guarantor in China to prove that they can bear the reasonable expenses such as study, life and international travel during the study in China.
The financial guarantee for studying in China shall be in accordance with the subsidy amount of the Fujian Provincial Government's Foreign Student Scholarship, and the scanned copy of the bank's fixed deposit certificate shall prevail. The economic guarantor for coming to China is limited to the applicant's parents or relatives, and they must provide scanned copies of the corresponding passports or identification documents.
International students can apply for both the "Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students" and the "Fuzhou University Scholarship for International Students" simultaneously by providing the corresponding materials as stipulated in the enrollment brochure. The school will select and award scholarships based on the number of scholarships available for the current year and the academic performance of the students.
The above two scholarships are mainly aimed at degree students who come to Fujian to pursue undergraduate studies. The benefits of the two awards are the same: students are exempt from tuition fees, accommodation fees and insurance fees, and the school provides living allowances. The scholarship funding period is all one year. The award-winning students need to participate in the annual review. Those who pass the review can continue to apply for the scholarship in the next academic year. Those who fail the review will have their scholarship qualifications suspended or cancelled.
