Foundation Programs（Medical science）

Founded in 1898, Peking University was originally known as the Imperial University of Peking. It was the first national university covering comprehensive disciplines in China, and has been a leading institution of higher education in China since its establishment. It also served as the highest administration for education at the beginning of its founding. And so far, there are 5000 international students from about 80 countries studying in Peking University.They are provided by many English-taught programs, including several double degree programs and programs run in cooperation with major universities around the world. 1Chinese courses: elementary and intermediate spoken Chinese, Chinese conversation, Chinese synthesis, HSK intensive training, etc.

Academic courses: Mathematics, physics, chemistry and other basic subjects.

2. Duration of study: six months in spring and one year in autumn. After graduation in July each year, the school arranges an upgrade examination, which is recommended to undergraduate majors according to the examination results.

3. Objective and methods: With the aim of improving students' basic Chinese and using the methods of Chinese learning, Chinese teaching mainly aims at improving students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and taking into account HSK test standard training. The teaching of cultural subjects should be combined with supplementary knowledge and method training.

4. Teachers: Teachers with rich experience in language teaching, master's degree, doctor's degree and senior titles.

5. Teaching time: Divided into two semesters, each semester teaching 16 weeks, review exam 2 weeks; The teaching time is 20-24 hours per week.

For the international students who will study in Peking University,there are two options for your accomodation as following : 

On-Campus

A. Student rooms in Posts and Telecommunications Hotel: with air conditioner, color TV, telephone, bathroom, and room-cleaning service, about 5 minutes away from Peking University campus by foot. 58 RMB per day per bed for two- or three-room apartment with two beds in each room. 95 RMB per day for single room.
B. Student rooms in Zhongguanyuan Global Village PKU: with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom.
Self-funded Students are required to find their own living accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus must register to the local police station.
C. Student rooms in Shaoyuan Building No. 9 (on-campus): with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom; two persons share one room.
D. King-size rooms in Shaoyuan Building (on-campus):with color TV, telephone, refrigerator, Internet access, bathroom, and air conditioner; two persons share one room.
Notes: Due to the limited accommodation on campus, the Shaoyuan International Students Residences can only provide the house for scholarship students.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

All international students who wish to study for medical undergraduate degree and meet the application conditions of this major (physical examination meets the requirements of the major and the age is not more than 29 years old), but have not met the admission requirements of Chinese language and need to strengthen the basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc. (nationality requirements are the same as undergraduate students) can apply

High school graduation certificate and transcript (or pre-graduation certificate) (foreign high school graduates need notarized or photocopy stamped with the official seal of the school; Applicants who have graduated from high school in China must provide notarized documents), proof of financial guarantee (bank deposit certificate of oneself or parents, etc.). Students who are already in China can apply directly to the International Student Office of the university, and the university can assist in the transfer procedures.
