IntroductionIntroduction

Founded in 1898, Peking University was originally known as the Imperial University of Peking. It was the first national university covering comprehensive disciplines in China, and has been a leading institution of higher education in China since its establishment. It also served as the highest administration for education at the beginning of its founding. And so far, there are 5000 international students from about 80 countries studying in Peking University.They are provided by many English-taught programs, including several double degree programs and programs run in cooperation with major universities around the world. ProgramAbout the Program

The fifth Peking University Summer School International Program will run from July 8 to August 2, 2013. It offers content courses related to China' s culture, literature, history, politics, economy and management, as well as issues of global concern. It also provides optional Chinese language courses at three different levels.

The program offers ten content courses and one Chinese language course. The subjects of the content courses will be related to philosophy, economics, public policy, sociology, culture, literature and music. All the content courses will be taught in English. All courses will be held at the Peking University campus. Students will receive an official transcript from Peking University upon completion of the program. When applying online, you should choose two courses from below items and Chinese language course is optional:

Accommodation

Students can apply the student apartment (2 single rooms share 1 living room and 1 bath room) in the Global Village during the study in program (July 6th to August 3rd). The price of the student apartment is RMB 95 Yuan/Day/Person.

Note:

1. The application fee is non-refundable.

2. The non-refundable tuition fee of 10,000 RMB covers two content courses, one Chinese Language course and visits to several historical and cultural attractions of Beijing. An extra 3,500 RMB of each course should be paid if student chooses more than two contents courses.

3. The tuition fee should be wired to Peking University bank account no later than May 31st, once an offer of admission is made. Otherwise, it can be deemed to be a waiver.

4. Occasionally we are forced to cancel courses if its enrollment is less than 10. Should your course be subject to a major change we will notify you in due time. In that case, you may either transfer to another course for which you are qualified.

Accommodation

For the international students who will study in Peking University,there are two options for your accomodation as following : 

On-Campus

A. Student rooms in Posts and Telecommunications Hotel: with air conditioner, color TV, telephone, bathroom, and room-cleaning service, about 5 minutes away from Peking University campus by foot. 58 RMB per day per bed for two- or three-room apartment with two beds in each room. 95 RMB per day for single room.
B. Student rooms in Zhongguanyuan Global Village PKU: with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom.
Self-funded Students are required to find their own living accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus must register to the local police station.

C. Student rooms in Shaoyuan Building No. 9 (on-campus): with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom; two persons share one room.
D. King-size rooms in Shaoyuan Building (on-campus):with color TV, telephone, refrigerator, Internet access, bathroom, and air conditioner; two persons share one room.
Notes: Due to the limited accommodation on campus, the Shaoyuan International Students Residences can only provide the house for scholarship students.

ENROLL IN CHINA

Entry Requirements

  • International students, or Chinese students study abroad in the college;
  • Between the age of 18 and 40 (18 and 40 included); Healthy;
  • With education background of above college graduation, or currently attending college;
  • ESL (English as second language) students should provide proof of proficiency in English, e.g. TOEFL, GRE, or IELTS test scores;
  • Some content courses require for which relevant academic background.  

Application Materials

1.Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number &expiration date
and name included.

2.Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant

3.Certificate/diploma of highest education Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English 
should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by 
notarization.


4.English proficiency test certificate 

For example, IELTS or TOEFL, only for applicant whose native language is not English


5.A sponsor letter or a permission letter from International Exchange Office of home university


6.Letter of recommendation
