Founded in 1898, Peking University was originally known as the Imperial University of Peking. ProgramAbout the Program

Organised jointly by LSE and Peking University, this double MSc degree offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate students and young professionals. The first year is spent at the School of Government at Peking University, with a focus on public policy and administration in China and the Asia Pacific region. The second year is spent at LSE, studying public policy and administration. It offers the following benefits: Gaining an insight into public policy and administration through studying at the best universities in the social sciences in China and in Europe. While at LSE, courses in the Government Department. Combining an empirical and a theoretical approach to public policy and administration. Studying in small seminar groups of no more than 15 students. Engaging at an advanced level with the latest academic research and undertaking your own research-based term work and dissertation. A good preparation for further research work or for a career in education, public administration or the private sector. At Peking University, the students take core courses including Chinese Politics and Public Policy, Chinese Economic Development and Reform, Chinese Language Course or Introduction to China and can select other courses from a list of optional courses. They complete the First Year programme by writing a dissertation on a topic relevant to their studies. At LSE, students follow the programme of the MSc Public Policy and Administration including a range of compulsory and optional courses, as well as completing a research-based dissertation. The programme provides an excellent preparation for careers in academia, business or consulting, government or international agencies, the media, politics and law. Course assessment is by assessed coursework (in some courses) and by a final exam. Year one: Peking All courses are one semester long Core Courses Chinese Politics and Public Policy Chinese Economic Development and Reform Research Design and Practice Chinese Language course or Introduction to China Public Politics course (PRC students MUST take this course) Optional Courses Two from: Government and Market Social Policy Transformation in China Chinese Law Introduction to China Outside option courses at PKU master's level Dissertation Students are required to submit a dissertation at PKU and to defend it. The list of courses may be amended and not all courses may run in a particular year. Year two: LSE Course choice and acceptance into specific courses depends on the availability of courses in a given year, staffing resources, the number of seminars offered for a particular course and student demand. How to Apply You should first apply LSE – PKU Double Degree in Public Administration and Government online before January 31 and get offer, then apply this program on CUCAS before May 3. Fees Tuition is separately paid to Peking University & London School of Economics and Political Science. Tuition at Peking University is 80,000 RMB, and at London School of Economics and Political Science is £16,512.

Accommodation

For the international students who will study in Peking University,there are two options for your accomodation as following : 

On-Campus

A. Student rooms in Posts and Telecommunications Hotel: with air conditioner, color TV, telephone, bathroom, and room-cleaning service, about 5 minutes away from Peking University campus by foot. 58 RMB per day per bed for two- or three-room apartment with two beds in each room. 95 RMB per day for single room.
B. Student rooms in Zhongguanyuan Global Village PKU: with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom.
Self-funded Students are required to find their own living accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus must register to the local police station.

C. Student rooms in Shaoyuan Building No. 9 (on-campus): with color TV, telephone, Internet access, air conditioner and bathroom; two persons share one room.
D. King-size rooms in Shaoyuan Building (on-campus):with color TV, telephone, refrigerator, Internet access, bathroom, and air conditioner; two persons share one room.
Notes: Due to the limited accommodation on campus, the Shaoyuan International Students Residences can only provide the house for scholarship students.

Entry Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport or permanent residents of Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan, under the age of 45, have attained a Bachelor’s degree or above.
2. Applicants who are not native English speakers or whose undergraduate education was not in English are required to take an appropriate English Language Proficiency Test and in general achieve a sufficient score, such as,
TOEFL  627 or better (Paper Based Test)
TOEFL - iBT 107 or better
IELTS 7.0 or better ( with at least 7.0 in Writing)
