Located in Nantong, a coastal city in the east of China and often referred to as 'City of Education, City of Sports and City of Longevity, Nantong University is approved to establish by China's Ministry of Education (MOE). Based on the location advantage near Shanghai and with the help of Nantong's open and developed private economy, the International Economics and Trade major has trained a large number of professional research and teaching backbone teachers, established a wide range of international trade teaching and practice bases, and trained and transported a large number of high-quality international trade talents for the local and Yangtze River Delta economic integration development.

This major is committed to cultivating practical and innovative economic and trade professionals with excellent quality and market demand, innovative spirit and flexible ability.

With a reasonable academic team, strong scientific research ability and high degree of internationalization, the major has formed a full-time teaching team of 45 people (excluding Chinese language and culture teachers) who focus on undergraduate education and attach equal importance to scientific research. Among them, 68.89% have senior titles of associate professor or above, 73.33% have a doctor's degree, and 75.56% have industry experience. 82.2% have overseas study or visiting experience.

In the past three years, International Economics and Trade has been ranked among the top 40% in the country in the professional ranking of Wu Shulian.

 It is a key undergraduate major of Nantong University (2010-2013) and a national first-class undergraduate major construction point (2021), with academic master's degree in Applied Economics and Master's degree in International Business. 

"International Trade Course" won the Yasuzuke International Trade Award; "Management Accounting based on Zhiyi Financial and Tax Platform" and "VBSE cross-professional Practice Curriculum Optimization Course Package" were approved by the Ministry of Education for industry-learning collaborative education projects; "Virtual Simulation Experiment of Manufacturing Enterprise Operation Optimization Based on Management Accounting" was selected as the first batch of first-class courses in the country.

Located in Nantong,  a coastal city in the east of China,  Nantong University was approved to establish by China’s Ministry of Education in May 2004 as a comprehensive university through the amalgamation of three former colleges: Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Teachers College. With a history of more than 90 years and an impressive breadth of disciplines, Nantong University has leading graduate, professional, and undergraduate programs in a variety of fields, including programs in literature, science, economics, law, education, history, engineering, medical science, and management. There are now 21 schools offering 73 undergraduate programs, 43 master programs and 1 doctor program with the total enrollment of 22,539 undergraduates, 770 postgraduates and 144 International students. Among 1553 full-time teachers, there are 611 professors and associate professors.NTU offers programs with rich opportunities for students at home and abroad to match their desire to develop intellectually and professionally.NTU was established on May18, 2004 with the amalgamation of Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Teachers College . However, it traces its history back to the early twentieth century.Nantong Medical College , stemmed from a private Medical Institute of Nantong, was founded in 1912 by Zhang Jian and his brother Zhang Cha.

History

Nantong University was one of the earliest medical colleges in China . It was transformed into Nantong Medical College in 1927, and a Medical department of Nantong University (amalgamated from three colleges of agriculture, textile and medicine) in 1928. Nantong University was moved to Shanghai In August 1938 and returned home and restored in 1946. During the adjustment of the national higher education in 1952, the medical department was entitled Northern Jiangsu Medical College and renamed as Nantong Medical College in 1956. Nantong University came under the joint jurisdiction of China ’s Ministry of Transportation and the Jiangsu Provincial Government In 1978. And since Feb. 2002, Nantong University has become a college at provincial level. Nantong Institute of Technology , the first textile college in China, developed from Nantong Textile Training School set in 1912, and was renamed Nantong Private Textile College in Sept. 1913.

Nantong University changed into Nantong Textile University in 1927 and combined into private Nantong University with medical and agricultural departments in 1928. Nantong University was merged into East China Textile College , Shanghai in1952 and was reinstalled by the Jiangsu Provincial Government in Dec. 1977 as Nantong Textile Branch (attached to Nanjing Technology Institute). It was renamed as Nantong Textile College in July 1980, promoted to Nantong Textile Institute of Technology in Jan. 1985 and re-entitled as Nantong Institute of Technology since Mar. 1995.Nantong Teachers College was amalgamated from the former Nantong Teachers College and Nantong Education College in 1999. The former Nantong Teachers College was established in 1958.

In Mar. 1983, Nantong Municipal Government approved to combine the two schools and named it Nantong Education College.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1. Know China, abide by laws and regulations, have no criminal record;

2. In good health, in line with the provisions of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China;

3. Excellent grades and meet the admission requirements of the specific program;

4. pplicants for bachelor's degree should have graduated from high school and be under the age of 25; 

Applicants for a master's degree should have obtained a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 30. Applicants should have obtained a master's degree and be under the age of 35. Applicants for Chinese language courses are generally under the age of 18-60.

1. A valid foreign passport or nationality certificate (if already in China, a valid visa or residence permit in China is required);

2. Notarial certificate of no criminal record;

3. Health certificate;

4. Financial guarantee;

5. Applicants under the age of 18 and whose parents are not permanent residents in China need to provide a formal power of attorney from their parents;

6. Notarized certificate of academic degree and transcript;

7. If you apply for courses taught in Chinese, you need to provide HSK Level 4 or above;

8. Non-english speaking international students who apply for courses taught in English are required to provide a valid proof of English proficiency;

9. Applicants for doctoral and master's degrees are required to provide two letters of recommendation from the pre-qualification school (the recommendation date is less than 6 months before the application date) and the research plan;

10. Previous graduates are required to provide evidence of relevant experience from the highest degree to the present.
