ProgramAbout the Program

First-class major

Energy and Power Engineering was selected as one of the national first-class undergraduate majors in 2019. The major has a first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point of Power engineering and engineering thermophysics (including 6 second-level disciplines and self-set disciplines of clean energy and environmental protection) and post-doctoral mobile station. The first-level discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics is the key discipline and the dominant discipline in Jiangsu Province.

National Scientific Research Platform

This major has three national research platforms: International Research Center of Energy Saving Technology for Fluid Engineering Equipment, National 111 Talent Base of Fluid Machinery Equipment and Technology, and National Research Center of Water Pump and System Engineering Technology. Students can conduct research work with the help of national scientific research platform.

International Joint Research Laboratory

Energy and power engineering has established Energy Innovation International Joint Laboratory of China-Thailand, Fluid and Power Engineering International Joint Laboratory of China-South Korea, New Energy Materials International Joint Laboratory of China-Norway and Materials Science Joint Laboratory of China-Denmark.

This major has research characteristics in the field of energy and power engineering, and has the ability to undertake international joint and national major projects, and has an important impact in countries along the "the Belt and Road".

CURRICULUM

Main Courses:

Undergraduate program include main professional courses such as :

* Fundamental Control of Energy and Power Engineering

* Principles of Fluid Machinery

* Experimental Techniques for Fluid Machinery

* Numerical Simulation of the Internal Flow in Impeller Pump

* Design of Fluid Machinery

All the above courses consist of experimental classes and skills training classes

Core Courses:

Thermodynamics

Engineering Thermodynamics is a professional basic course for energy and power engineering. Through study of this course, students mainly learn the laws and applications of the mutual conversion between thermal energy and mechanical energy or other energy. Students can scientifically understand and master the basic principles of thermodynamics and energy conversion laws, and master the methods and means of engineering thermodynamics analysis problems, and can apply the knowledge of engineering thermodynamics to the thermal equipment and thermal processes involved in the engineering application of mechanical manufacturing.

Measurement Technology of Energy and Power Engineering

Measurement technology is an important method of promoting technological progress in the field of energy and power engineering. This course aims to train students to master and understand the testing technology commonly used in the field of energy and power engineering. The course focuses on the understanding of the principle and application process of common measuring instruments in energy and power engineering. Through study of this course, students could understand the measurement instruments and methods of sensors, flow velocity, pressure and other key parameters commonly used in the field of energy and power engineering.

Cognitive Practice

The school arranges students to take part in practice and visit various factories to get familiar with the business scope of energy and power engineering, so as to better understand the development prospect of this major and lay a good foundation for future employmen

Academic Research

Out-of-school experts teach lectures on relative energy and power extreme technologies each year. Students can attend lectures in their spare time to put forward their own opinions on some problems and exchange ideas with teachers. Lectures study and experiments could expand students research ideas and inspire their inspiration.

Career Development

Energy and power engineering is widely used in many industrial fields, such as electric power, automobile, aerospace engineering, and agricultural engineering. Graduates can engage in many aspects of specific work, such as power equipment system design, operation, automatic control, information processing, computer applications, environmental protection, new energy development, energy efficient and clean utilization. Students can use their own professional knowledge to make contribute to the construction of their country.

About Jiangsu University

Tourism

Zhenjiang is a dynamic and beautiful city, shaped by over 3,000 years of myths, legends and profound history. Zhenjiang is a famous historical and cultural city, that is a top tourist destination in the Yangtze River delta region. Zhenjiang is known for offering a combination of "urban forests" and "grand river scenery" due to the surrounding mountains dotted with marvelous temples and pagodas, mighty rivers and bridges, and natural beauty.

History

In history, Zhenjiang was one of the origins of Wu culture, and produced a large number of celebrated scientists, literators and historians. Zhenjiang's culture has been very attractive for both Chinese and foreigners. Marco Polo, a famous Italian writer of The Travels of Marco Polo, studied Chinese culture and Chinese political systems in Zhenjiang many years. Pearl S. Buck, the famous American woman writer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1938, spent her childhood, adolescence and youth in Zhenjiang, therefore, most of her works were stamped with the influence of local culture.

Food
