Wu Culture Appreciation Program

Jiangsu University, established in 1902, lies in the famous historical and cultural city of Zhenjiang. It features engineering and has the most famous English-medium MBBS courses in China. Engineering in Medical Technology (EMT), International Economy and Trade (IET), Agricultural Machinery and Engineering (AME) and BBA are also available in English. Objective: This program is to make full use of local culture resources and thoughtfully present local cultural industry. Bei-gu Hill is at the one point of the triangle distribution with Jin Hill and Jiao Hill, famous for its indestructible defensive buildings. It’s one of the national key scenic spots with reputation of the first hill in Jing-kou (ancient name of Zhenjiang) and the first landscape under heaven.

Characteristics: Focusing on “Wu” Culture, cultivating culture heritage during Three Kingdom, taking advantage of “the marriage of Emperor Bei LIU”, from which the episode of Dragon and Phoenix Bringing Prosperity in Beijing Opera evolves, “the first landscape under heaven” was grandly built. This program is mainly to attract foreign guests, esp. Japanese (think of Abenonakamaro), Koreans and those who know well about the Chinese culture and history.

Tourism

Zhenjiang is a dynamic and beautiful city, shaped by over 3,000 years of myths, legends and profound history. Zhenjiang is a famous historical and cultural city, that is a top tourist destination in the Yangtze River delta region. Zhenjiang is known for offering a combination of "urban forests" and "grand river scenery" due to the surrounding mountains dotted with marvelous temples and pagodas, mighty rivers and bridges, and natural beauty.

 

History

In history, Zhenjiang was one of the origins of Wu culture, and produced a large number of celebrated scientists, literators and historians. Zhenjiang's culture has been very attractive for both Chinese and foreigners. Marco Polo, a famous Italian writer of The Travels of Marco Polo, studied Chinese culture and Chinese political systems in Zhenjiang many years. Pearl S. Buck, the famous American woman writer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1938, spent her childhood, adolescence and youth in Zhenjiang, therefore, most of her works were stamped with the influence of local culture.

 

Food

Zhenjiang is also a great place for you to "taste Jiangsu". It's known throughout China and the world for its famous vinegar, and as the true home of "sweet and sour". Zhenjiang has a rich and diverse cuisine, and you will enjoy every delicious bite in the place where the British established a consulate.

Jiangsu University is located in Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province,and is generally consisted of four campuses: main campus of jiangsu university, MengXi campus, North campus and zhongshan campus. All the international students can live in campus.

You need not to book in advance, Because the school will arrange for you. Moreover, all the students can live in the double room. In the dorm room: there are furniture, telephone, air conditioning, internet, hot water, toilet, kitchen, public utilities and washing machines in the dormitory. The bedding should be bought and it cost 400RMB. There will be staff in charge of cleaning public area. 

Accommodation fee：

1.long-time accommodation: 4,300 to 4,900 per person per academic year (Double-room)

2.short-time accommodation:

within 1 month	50 CNY/bed/day;
within 3 months	30 CNY/bed/day
beyond 3 months	20 CNY/bed/day

Deposit for Dormitory: 500 CNY

Bedding Items: 400 CNY (pillow, bed sheet, blanket, mattress etc.)

Physical Examination: 400 CNY (to be paid to Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau)

Medical Insurance Fee: 600 CNY/ year (to be paid to the life insurance company)

Resident Permit: 400 CNY (to be paid to Public Security Bureau by candidate)

Books: Flexible, about 600 CNY/year

Living expenses: Approximately 1,000 CNY/month (Depends on your personal budget)

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

5.Certificate/diploma of highest education
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
