ProgramAbout the Program

Southeast University is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.Note: Once admitted, students are required to pay deposit in advance. Only after the payment can you get JW202 Form.Teaching ObjectivesThe course aims to educate students to study basic theory and elementary knowledge in medicine, gain basic clinical skills of some common diseases diagnosis processing, have the primary treatment ability to urgent, difficult and severe symptoms, and be qualified for careers in hospitals, the medical and health units, medical science research departments as well as other organizations related medicine.Main Course(1) Chinese culture and natural science courses, including an overview of China's culture, Chinese language, Chinese medical terminology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, physical education, etc. It is required to pass the examinations of these courses respectively.

(2) Basic medical sciences, behavioral science, humanities, social science and medical ethics, preventive medicine and clinical medicine. It is also required to pass the examinations of these courses respectively.In order to facilitate their learning and life in China and contact with patients in their medical practice, the Chinese language shall be a compulsory course during the whole undergraduate medical program in English for international students in China.InternshipStudents can choose to do the internship/training in China, their home country or any other country. The institutions shall meticulously organize the reasonable arrangement of the internship. The duration of the internship is one year (at least 48 weeks).If students want to do the internship in China, SEU would help student to choose a hospital from 20 hospitals in Nanjing. Before internship, students need to pass the HSK Level 5; otherwise the university will arrange a Chinese student as translator to assist during the internship. The accommodation will be settled by the relative hospitals. SEU host 10 affiliated hospitals of different categories and over 40 teaching hospitals around China.If students want to do the internship in other country, SEU needs to do a qualification evaluation on the hospital which student chooses.And when the internship is over; they should finish the relative internship reports and bring back the internship certifications. As long as the students finish all the courses and credits in the 6 years, when the internship is ended, they can post their necessary graduation documents such as internship report to the university. After validation, the university will mail the graduation certificates and diplomas to the students if they meet the graduation requirements.And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in SEU.Degree AwardedMBBS degree: upon graduation, students need to pass the HSK 3 (New HSK 4) to get the diploma.

On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the SEU, if they meet the degree regulations of the university. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).CareerAfter obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master's degree.

Note: The requirement of the level of HSK may be changed according to the Ministry of Education of China.

Medical College of Southeast University, originating from Nanjing Railway Medical College, whose origin can be traced back to the Medical College of the Central University founded in 1935, was merged to Southeast University in 2000. College of Medicine, SEU is composed of School of Basic Medical Science, School of Clinical Medicine and School of Public Health. The College offers six Ph.D. programs, twenty-nine Master's programs, one 7-year program for both Bachelor's and Master's degree and seven Bachelor's programs.

There are over 80 professors and 150 associate professors in the faculty of the College of Medicine, including 30 doctoral supervisors and 200 master's supervisors, majority of whom have the experience of studying in famous foreign medical schools and have obtained Doctor's degree. Additionally, there are 87 part-time professors and 226 associate professors in the attached hospitals and laboratory hospitals.  

With 193,000 sq. m. of modern teaching and laboratory buildings, gymnasiums and libraries, College of Medicine, SEU covers the total area of 263,000 sq. m. The libraries collect 400,000 copies of books and 1500 kinds of foreign periodicals. The Clinical Experimental Center, which is under construction, will facilitate the medical students with modern clinical techniques, by means of the simulative electronic patient system. There are 19 hospitals attached to College of Medicine, SEU, more than 40 laboratory hospitals spreading across the country.

There are four campuses of Southeast University and all are in Nanjing. They are Sipailou Campuse, Dingjiaqiao Campus, Jiulonghu Campus and Pukou Campus.

International Students are living in the first three campuses, among which Dingjiaqiao Campus is prepared for most of the international medical students and most of the international freshmen.

The room facilities in the 3 international students' dorms are similar including air conditioning, water heater for shower, 2 beds/desks/chairs/cupboards, telephone, Internet access and bathroom. And self-supplied mini kitchens are available at the dorms at Sipailou and Dingjiaqiao campuses.
