Xi’an Jiaotong University 

Chinese Government Scholarship-Graduate Program (2011/2012)

For promoting a better understanding and friendship between Chinese people and internationals as well as developing outstanding international talents, XJTU is opening applications for

full-time graduate studies under the “Chinese Government Scholarship—Graduate Program”.

 

I. Scholarships Availability:  30.

II. Application Deadline：  April 5, 2011  (refer to postmark).

III. Duration of Program:  Master’s degree  2～3 years, Doctoral degree  3～4 years

School Semester Begins:  September 2011 (refer to Admission Notice)

IV. Scholarship Scope: 

1. Exemption from the fees of:  registration, tuition, accommodation on campus

(Master’s degree students: double room; Doctoral degree students: single room);

2. Living allowance (Master’s degree students: CNY 1,700 Yuan /month; Doctoral degree students: CNY 2,000 Yuan /month);

3. Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students in China;

4. One-off settlement subsidy after registration (CNY 1,500 Yuan).

V. Eligibility Requirements:

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports;

2. Applicants must be in good health;

3. Applicants must not be currently studying in China;

4. Applicants for Master's degree must have a Bachelor's degree and be under 35 years of age;Applicants for Doctoral degree must have a Master's degree and be under 40years of age; 

5. Applicants may not receive any other types of scholarship.

VII. Application Documents:

All documentation must be complete, true, and correct in either Chinese or English.

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship;

2. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form:

(The original copy should be kept by the applicant. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants 

are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination due to the 6-months validity of the medical results. )

3. Highest diploma (notarized copy): 

Documents in other languages must be attached with a notarized translation in Chinese or English;

4. Academic Transcripts (notarized copy): 

Transcripts in other languages must be attached with a notarized translation in Chinese or English;

5. Recommendation Letters:

Two letters of recommendation (in Chinese or English) must be written for the applicant by professors or associate professors;

6. Research or Study Plan:

Applicants must submit a written research or study plan in English or Chinese.  (800 words or more for Master's applicants; 1500 words or more for Doctoral applicants);

7. Other:

Applicants should include any published research papers, certificates of awards, and any other materials that demonstrate their abilities and excellence in their studies;

8. Certificate of English/Chinese Proficiency Level:  HSK or TOEFL;

NOTE:

a) Application documents mentioned above will not be returned regardless of the result. 

b) Applications without complete required documents will be rejected.

c) Please Provide two copies of Documents #1-8.
