Applied chemistry

Founded in Shanghai in 1896 as Nanyang Public, XJTU was renamed and relocated to Xi’an in 1956. It is one of the China's oldest institutions of higher learning and is under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in China. Xi'an Jiaotong University has extensive ties to the world of international scholarship and research. In addition, there are currently 1020 foreign students from 51 countries studying at XJTU.

Professional Definition: The Applied Chemistry major encompasses the fundamental knowledge, theories and skills of chemistry, and also involves related engineering and technical knowledge, including applied research and technology development, etc. It mainly studies how to transform the scientific research achievements and technological achievements in chemistry into practical applications, and widely permeate all aspects of life.

Professional level and duration of study: It is an undergraduate major in regular institutions of higher learning in China, belonging to the category of chemistry. The general duration of study is four years, and it confers a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Professional development history: In 1952, China carried out departmental adjustments, and Applied Chemistry was no longer regarded as a major. However, a few institutions still retained or offered it. In 1963, The State Council approved and released the "General Professional Catalogue for Higher Education Institutions", re-establishing this major. Since then, with the development of science and technology, many colleges and universities have been established one after another. In 2012, the professional directory issued by the Ministry of Education clearly stated that it was a major under the category of science, belonging to the chemistry category.

The School of International Education was founded in March,2006. It is famous for a beautiful study environment, advanced teaching facilities, professional academic staff, diversified courses and effective teaching. Since the school establishment, over 2,000 international students from more than 30 countries have participated in Chinese study. After several years' improvement, the School of Chinese Language Study has become an independent school with a combination of Chinese teaching and culture education. Through a combination of Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing, international students can acquire a vocabulary of 800-1000 Chinese words after 6 months and 1500-2000 after one year. In recent years, the Ratio of our international students passing the 3rd band of HSK (the Chinese proficiency test) is over 90%, and that of passing 6th is over 60%. Language school graduates have gone on to get their get master’s degrees at Chinese universities, find jobs in international politics, economics and culture fields and write articles for Chinese newspapers and magazines. One student even published a book written entirely in Chinese

Food
There are 16 main canteens in the campus, including most kinds of food in China. International students can dine at various canteens. There is a canteen on the 4th floor of international student building. It’s much convenience for international students dine there. There also have some special canteen, for example, noodle house, Muslim canteen, and food of Taiwan kind—MingJi canteen.
You need buy a meal card and charge it. The average cost for each meal is about RMB 5.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

Aged 18 to 25, in good health; Holding a valid foreign ordinary passport: High school graduation or above (if not graduated at the time of application, a pre-graduation certificate must be provided, and the high school graduation certificate must be obtained at the latest before enrollment). Meet the corresponding language proficiency requirements.

Chinese-taught programs: Proof of Chinese proficiency must be submitted. The Chinese proficiency should be equivalent to HSK level 4 or above. Those whose Chinese proficiency does not meet the standard can choose to study in the preparatory course of Xi 'an Jiaotong University. Only those whose Chinese proficiency reaches level 4 of the International Standard of Chinese Language Proficiency after the preparatory course can enter the undergraduate program. Those who fail to meet the standards are not allowed to enter the professional preparatory course. For details, please visit the official website of the International College at: :/sie.xjtu.edu.cn/. English-taught programs: Submit proof of English proficiency. An IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 80 or a Duolingo score of 110 or above, or other equivalent English proficiency certificates recognized by our university. Those whose native language is Chinese or English may be exempted from submitting the corresponding language proficiency certificates upon recognition by our school. To apply for the English-taught program in industrial design, an English to TOLC score of no less than 30 points must also be submitted.

A notarized copy of the high school diploma. For texts other than Chinese or English, an official translation notarized copy is required. Fresh graduates should provide the original pre-graduation certificate issued by their current school and supplement the official documents when reporting for enrollment.

Academic transcript. Notarized copies of the transcripts of all courses in high school and the explanation of the school's academic performance evaluation system. For texts other than Chinese or English, official translation notarized copies are required. The score report of a unified standardized test in the student's country or an internationally recognized standardized test (such as Atevel, IBDP, etc.)

Proof of language proficiency (such as IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, HSK certificates, etc. 2. Native speakers of Chinese/English are not required to provide after being recognized by our school).

Five recommendation letters. One letter, issued by the high school principal or teacher (signed by the recommender and indicating the email address and contact number); Study plan. Write in Chinese or English, no less than 600 words; Since the   Ordinary valid foreign passport;
