The introduction of Major

Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is based theoretically in nature science and technology science, combining the technology experience of production practice, and focused on the research and development of complex aerospace products. The knowledge of mechanical engineering can be used in automobile, aircraft, architecture, industrial instrument, engine and other levels.

The discipline involves in offering support to analyze, design and produce mechanical system by using the laws of physics. It requires students to deeply understand applied mechanics, thermology and other basic scientific principles, using which to analyze static and dynamic material system, create and design practical device, equipment, instrument, tools, etc,. Besides, students are required to combine automatic technology and information technology with mechanical equipment and system in order to form a series of advanced manufacturing technology, promoting the traditional machining operation and Manufacturing management system optimization in a qualitative leap forward.

NPU has worked hard to create an intelligent and energetic faculty that the students desire. The university attracts and employs the most capable faculty available and seeks to cultivate a climate that promotes excellence in their performance. NPU encourages and provideswith the faculty members opportunities to continue learning, keeping current with the research and development within their fields of expertise.  

Each year, NPU sends new and mid-career faculty members to special training at prestigious institutions of higher learning and organizations both at home and abroad. The Tenth Five-year Plan includes the Outstanding Disciplinary Leader Development Plan, the High-level Creative Talent Program and the Elite Development Program, and all designed to increase skills in young teachers. At present, NPU has proposed the Aoxiang Scholar Project to help train outstanding academic discipline leaders, excellent innovative teams and innovating young researchers and lecturers.

NPU has 1,801 faculty members, including 15 CAS or CAE academicians, 428 professors, and 556 associate professors. Over 82% of them hold a master's degree or above. Teachers under the age of 45 account for 76% of the total faculty. The university continues to recruit an increasing number of teachers who have worked abroad at other universities and who have a great variety of experiences. NPU has 13 Yangtze River Scholars, 16 professors from the National Hundreds out of Ten Million Talent Project, 9 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars，55 professors sponsored by the New Century Excellent Talent Support Plan of the Ministry of Education, 22 professors having the title of Shaanxi Provincial Distinguished Professorship, 25 professors from the Talent Project 511, 25 professors from the Shaanxi Provincial Three-Five Talent Project, 8 professors working as specialists in the Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and 27 professors working on the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Guidance Committee.

NPU provides students with various, well-equipped apartments in different specification and conditions. Examined and approved by government, the apartments are abounded by all kinds of dining rooms and restaurants, hospitals, store, banks and well-equipped sports grounds which bring great convenience to students. Each apartment is equipped with an air conditioner, heating, a writing desk, a telephone, international access and cook tools etc.

Note: 

Students should pay 500 RMB refundable deposit. The money will be returned when they check out.

Students can live out of campus, but the university requires that students who study Chinese language should live in the Oversea Students Apartment for the first year.

The Students who study for degrees should live in the Oversea Students Apartment during the whole period.

Students who apply for living outside campus shall register both at International College of NPU and at local police station.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

(1)Good physical and mental health (no infectious or contagious diseases and no physical or mental disorders that could interfere with regular study).

(2)Applicants should be under 30 

(3)Applicants should hold a high school diploma 

(4)Applicants should be competent in performing scientific research and maintain a good academic grade level. The requirement for previous academic grade level is an average score of 75% and above. NPU accepts international standardized tests such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/IGCSE/WAEC/GED. Applicants may provide other certificates as proof for academic performance.
