International Student Summer “Sensing China” Series (IV) and Ou Kiln Town Intangible cultural experience Held
On July 27, 2018,International Education School(InternationalStudent Management Department) organized summer “sensing China”series (IV) andou kiln town intangible cultural experience.
Located in Yongjia County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province,ou kilntown is characterized by its integration oflocal tea culture, wine culture and wood carving culture in combination with ancient kiln site, exhibition hall, studio and ou kiln art heritage base. In the Ou Kiln Ancient Porcelain Museum, Zhang Changcai, the founder of Zhejiang Celadon,gave the international studentsadetailed explanation of the collections in the museum, which enhanced their understanding of ou kiln and its culture. In Changpu Caotang, the international students were amazed by the exquisite landscape of Changpu.In Ou yi Ou yao R&D and design center, they visited the new ou kiln which combined traditional porcelain art and modern ceramics technology; in Linxiuge, international students tasted Chinese health tea and learned Chinese tea culture.
International students have experience dou kiln clay-moldand tire making techniques. During more than two hours of intense and exhilarating experience they witnessed cobras, African elephants,spiders, African bowls and other exotic works vividly presented the characteristics of different region’s amorous feelings.Althoughtheir works weren’t polished enough,it showed that they were full of creativity. Especially when they heard that their works would be sent to their own hands after firing, they were very excited. Janeth from Tanzania said that today's cultural experience activities had given him a better understanding of the culture of ou kiln, especially the hand-drawing experience had stimulated his interest in ou kiln,thanks to the International Education School for organizing the “Sensing China” series, which allowed him to know about Wenzhou and ou culture during the summer vacation.He was looking forward to his work that has been burned out.
It is reported that on the same day in Zhejiang Celadon-Ou Kiln Town Experience Hall, Ye Miao, Dean and Secretary of theCollege of International Education(Department of Overseas Students Education&Service) and Zhang Changcai, founder of Zhejiang Celadon, signed a cooperation agreement and awarded the license to Wenzhou Ou Kiln College, in which Wenzhou University “International Student Practice Base” would bejointly established by providing a practical platform for Wenzhou University international students to experience the charming culture of ou kiln.
