General Information:
Students are required to complete the curriculum between 4 years and fulfill the designated number of credits.
Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the bachelor\'s degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee of the People\'s Republic of China.
One who has failed to meet the academic requirements will be issued a certificate of completion of studies provided this is in conformity with the relevant regulations.

Overview

Wuhan University (WHU) is a comprehensive and key national university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education. History
The history of Wuhan University can be traced back to Ziqiang Institute, which was founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong, the then governor of Hubei Province and Hunan Province in the late Qing Dynasty. In the process of development and evolution, the institute changed its name several times before it was finally named Wuhan National University in 1928. It is one of the earliest comprehensive national universities in modern China. By the end of 1946, the university had established 6 colleges, the colleges of liberal art, law, sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. In 2000, an amalgamation of the former Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering, Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping, and Hubei Medical University was announced, which ushered in a new era in its 100-odd years of development.

 

For the past century, Wuhan University has built an elegant palatial architectural complex of primitive simplicity which blends perfectly the eastern architectural style with that of the west. It is honored as the "Most Beautiful University in China." Furthermore, Wuhan University's centennial humanistic accumulation boils down to its succinct motto, that is, "Improve Oneself, Promote Perseverance, Seek Truth and Make Innovations."

 

Education
Since its establishment, Wuhan University has cultivated more than 300 thousand professional talents in various occupations, among whom there are over 100 members of the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, south of China, Wuhan University, as central China’s largest university, is consisted of theer campuses, including the Old Campus(Faculty of Arts and Sciences), the Main Campus (Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Information Sciences and Faculty of Humanities and Science) and the Medical Campus (Faculty of Medical Sciences). 


The International Students are mainly in the International Education College of Wuhan University, located on the Main Campus. They are mainly lodged in the famous Maple Garden.

ENROLL IN CHINA

Entry Requirements

1. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens and meet the requirements stipulated in the JWH [2020] No.12 Document issued by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Applicants shall be physically and mentally healthy and willing to abide by the laws and regulations of China and the regulations of Wuhan University.

2. Applicants shall be between 18 and 25 years of age as of Sep. 1, 2025. Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit a guarantee letter from their guardians in China when applying.

3. Language Ability

Applicants for Chinese-taught programs shall hold the new HSK4 certificate (with scores of 180+). Applicants whose mother tongue is Chinese or who have been taught in Chinese in high school can be exempted from an HSK certificate if approved by Wuhan University.

Applicants applying for Chinese Language major, whose Chinese language proficiency is at least 180 points in HSK4, and who have studied Chinese language for one year or more in universities or other educational institutions with excellent grades can be arranged into the second year of the Chinese language major class upon their own application and passing the assessment organized by the School of International Education. Those who have attained the Chinese language proficiency of 180 points or above in HSK5 and have studied the Chinese language for one year or more in universities or other educational institutions with excellent grades can be arranged into the third year of the Chinese language major class if they have passed the assessment organized by the School of International Education upon their own application.

4. Identity Verification of Ethnic Chinese

If one or both of the applicant’s parents are Chinese, or the applicant has emigrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and acquired foreign nationality, according to the No.12 Announcement of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (2020), they shall be naturalized for four years or more (before Apr. 30, 2025) and have more than two years of residence in foreign countries during this period (actual residence in a foreign country of more than nine months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit stamps).

Applicants born in a foreign country are required to meet the above criteria and provide a personal birth certificate and the parents' nationality certificates.
