Sun Yat-sen University, originally known as Guangdong University, was founded in 1924 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen (also called Sun Zhongshan), a great democratic revolutionary leader of the 20th century. Guangzhou South Campus
The Guangzhou South Campus is located in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and covers a total area of 1.17 square kilometers. It mainly hosts disciplines in sciences and humanities.

Guangzhou East Campus
The Guangzhou East Campus is located at the north end of the Guangzhou University City in Xiaoguwei, Panyu, and covers an area of 1.13 square kilometers. The Guangzhou University City is a major development made by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province in an effort to implement the strategy of building Guangdong through science and education. The first batch of students started school there in September, 2004.

Zhuhai Campus
The Zhuhai Campus is located at Tang Jia Wan, Zhuhai City, and covers an area of 3.48 square kilometers. Freshmen and sophomores of some disciplines in liberal arts, natural sciences, and medical sciences are currently living and studying on campus with students from the School of Network Education and Continuing Education.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

The 10 countries jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative: the United Arab Emirates, Cuba, South Africa, Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Egypt and Vietnam.

(1) Good physical and mental health, and must meet the physical examination standards for applying for a study visa or residence permit to China.

(2) Applicants for a bachelor's degree should have the equivalent academic qualifications of a high school graduate, excellent academic performance, and generally no more than 25 years old. Applicants for a master's degree should hold a bachelor's degree or have equivalent academic qualifications, have excellent academic performance, and generally be no older than 35 years old. Applicants for a doctoral degree should hold a master's degree or have equivalent academic qualifications, have excellent academic performance, and generally be no older than 40 years old.

(3) Be friendly to China, diligent and eager to learn, have excellent academic performance, good conduct, abide by laws and regulations, have no record of violating school rules and regulations, no public security penalties, and no criminal records. Applicants for a Master of Public Administration degree must have at least three years of study or work experience related to the "Public Administration" major, and must be government officials at the department level or above, leaders of academic institutions at the department head level or above, or administrative personnel of equivalent rank.

(4) Language proficiency requirements

 For applications to Chinese-taught programs: 

Applicants for a bachelor's degree should, in principle, achieve a Chinese proficiency of at least 180 points in HSK Level 3. Applicants for master's and doctoral degrees should, in principle, achieve at least 180 points in the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level 4. Admission Requirements: The applicant's Chinese proficiency for admission should, in principle, reach a score of 180 or above in HSK Level 5. Applicants who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the medium of instruction can submit a "Certificate of Teaching in Chinese" issued by their school. After being recognized by our university, they will be exempted from submitting the HSK score certificate.

Application for English-taught programs: If your native language is not English, you must submit proof of TOEFL (TOEFL iBT score of 79 or above, with each section score of 15 or above) or IELTS (IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or above, with each section score of 5.5 or above) or other proof that can reflect your English proficiency. Applicants who have used English as the medium of instruction can submit a "Certificate of English Teaching" issued by their school. After being recognized by our school, they will be exempted from submitting the certificate of English proficiency.
