Chengdu University is located in the capital city of Sichuan province—Chengdu City, which is the political, economical, and cultural center in the west of China, and the home of Giant Panda. A total of 42 Bachelor’s degree courses, such as International Economic Trade, Art Designing and Civil Engineering etc. along with the Non-degree course Long-term Chinese Language course of CDU have been warmly welcomed by International students. As the only one comprehensive university run by Chengdu Municipal Government, CDU has grown into a comprehensive city-based university not only taking Engineering, Liberal Arts and Management as its dominant fields but also integrating the development of other disciplines, such as Economics, Law, Pedagogics, Science, Agriculture, and Medicine.

Program Description

Student-Teacher Ratio: 6:1

Classes: Open all year with flexible enrollment. Students have classes from Monday to Friday, 3 class hours per day.

Students: A diverse group from America, Great Britain, Germany, France, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Israel, Poland, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, South Africa, Algeria, Indonesia, Morocco, Peru, and many other countries.

Teaching staff: The “International Students Teaching Research Section”, which is run under the OICE of CDU has 13 full-time and part-time professional teachers. Most of them have acquired master's degrees and doctorates in Chinese language and culture.

Type of Classes: In order to meet various needs of international students in their study and different levels of Chinese language of international students, CDU offers small size classes with usually less than 10 students. Special guidance classes with one or two students and courses may be offered and adjusted at any time according to the requirement of students.

Optional Courses: In accordance with different interests and requirement of international students, CDU offers the following optional courses: HSK Intensive Course, Chinese Calligraphy, Paper Cutting, Chinese Dance, Chinese Cuisine, Chinese Drawing, Chinese Martial Arts and Taiji.

Founded in 1978, Chengdu University (CDU) is a full-time higher education institution run under the direct authority of the Chengdu Municipal Government, and also administered by Sichuan Province. Office of International Cooperation and Exchange
 

The Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (OICE) of Chengdu University is responsible for the international affairs related to enrolling international students, inviting foreign experts, and promoting international cooperation and exchange between CDU and other universities and institutions abroad.

Meanwhile, the enrollment of international students at Chengdu University is growing steadily as well. So far, the OICE has recruited more than 600 foreign students from the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Thailand, South Korea, Israel, Slovenia, Japan, the Netherlands, and many other countries. Studying Chinese language in Chengdu University, international students not only strengthen their language skills, but also deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, history and customs through additional classes such as Wushu (kungfu), Sichuan Opera, calligraphy, and Chinese traditional medicine. In this way, Chinese teaching in CDU is not only confined to the regular classroom exercises, but is also integrated with various field activities that provide students with access to a real language environment and local culture. With these distinguishing features for learning Chinese language and culture training, Chengdu University attracts more and more foreign students from around the world every year.

Accommodation

CDU offers rooms with all the necessary facilities for international students at moderate prices. There are single-bedded rooms and double-bedded rooms with toilets. Each room is equipped with an air-conditioner, telephone, TV-set, internet access and 24-hour hot water supply. Public kitchens with refrigerators, microwave ovens and washers are located on each floor that the rooms are located on.
