SCUT is one of China's 43 key universities under the direct leadership of the China State Ministry of Education and is widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential universities in China. This reputation has its basis in the University's historical commitment to innovative courses, cross-disciplinary teaching and research, and flexible and high responses to society needs.
 
SCUT was established in November 1952, on the basis of readjustment and amalgamation of the relevant departments of 12 universities in five provinces in Mid-South China. Over the past 50 years, it has developed into a comprehensive university combining science, engineering, liberal arts, industry, and business management. In June 1995, SCUT was first ranked among the universities upon which China is to place financial stress in the new millennium of the 21st century.
 
SCUT is open to the world and taking an active part in international academic exchange. It is connected with over 50 overseas universities in programs that promote graduate-cultivating and scientific research. We have International Students from more than 20 countries of the five continents to study Chinese, Chinese Culture, Science & Engineering or Business of Management in SCUT. The university committee is very care of International Student Education. SCUT has built a new dorm for International Students in the west district of its North Campus. It comprises dormitory rooms, classrooms, dining hall, public kitchen, etc.
 
SCUT is situated in Guangzhou, a southern metropolitan in China, and has a total area of 294 hectares. The university has two campuses. The North Campus is a propound culture area in beautiful surroundings of lakes and mountains, bluish greenery and luxuriant flowers, traditional buildings and modern architecture. Dormitory beds are limited, and the dormitory is allocated on a "first come, first served" basis;
The accommodation fee shall be settled in RMB. The accommodation fee shall be paid upon check-in (online or bank card payment, cash not accepted);
International students may live off campus, but must register at the local police station within 24 hours of arrival. ·

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1.18-25 years old

2. Graduate from high school

① Completion of high school or equivalent courses, all subjects in the transcript required to pass or above (including pass), fresh high school graduates can submit pre-graduation certificate (before enrollment must supplement submit high school graduation certificate, original transcript and translation); ② Chinese language proficiency requirements for majors taught in Chinese (the language proficiency certificate must still be valid at the time of admission) :• Science and engineering majors must have a score of 180 or above in HSK Band 4; • Liberal Arts, business management, foreign language, art, design, architecture, sports majors must achieve HSK Level 5 180 or above; • A score of 180 or above in HSK Band 4 is required for majors in TCSOL. (3) English proficiency requirements for English-taught majors (language proficiency certificate must still be valid at the time of admission) :• TOEFL old T68 or above; Ielts 5.5 or above (non-native English speaking students); Or equivalent English proficiency certificate; • Duolingo English test is accepted, TOEFL Essentials ™ Scores and TOEFL MyBest® Scores0 are not required to submit English proficiency certificates if the following conditions are met: • Students with the highest degree in English-taught courses are required to submit proof of instruction in English. Language level requirements for bilingual teaching majors (language level certificate must be valid at the time of admission) :• Science and engineering majors must achieve HSK Band 4 180 or above; Economic and management majors must achieve HSK Level 5 180 points or above; • TOEFL old T68 or above; Ielts 5.5 or above (non-native English speaking students); Or equivalent English proficiency certificate; • Duolingo English test accepted, TOEFL Essentials ™ Scores and TOEFL MyBest® Scores. ⑤ Those whose HSK score does not meet the admission requirements can study Chinese language courses in the School of International Education until they obtain the corresponding Chinese language level certificate. The original "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" must be filled out in Chinese or English. ⑦ Two letters of recommendation. Students applying for the arts program are required to submit a CD of their music/dance work; Students applying to architecture and design programs are required to provide an art/design portfolio. ⑨ Students applying for civil engineering (bilingual teaching) and Materials (bilingual teaching) majors are required to take the math and English entrance exams organized by the professional college; Students applying to the School of Architecture are required to attend an interview organized by the professional School. Students who fail the exam or interview and meet the requirements of other majors may transfer to other majors. ⑩ Students may apply to change their major within two weeks of registration. The result of the application is subject to the notification of the college.
